I had a similar problem as Deborah with the skeins not making enough squares. I ended up ripping out my first skein and starting over making the stiches much tighter. I ended up blocking my squares to 4 inches, and ended up with almost a whole skein left over. The end result was absolutely beautiful though-- the most complicated project I have made. The yarn is very pretty and soft, but can be a challenge at times.

Pattern states each skein makes 10 squares. I have used 2 skeins of Delight and each skein made 8.25 squares. This necessitated ordering more yarn. My squares were 4.75 inches as per pattern. Yarn is very difficult to work with. When ripping out a mistake, fibers fuse together and need to be cut out with scissors which results in lots of wasted yarn and/or knots. Very disappointed in this project. My first purchase of Drops yarn is not satisfactory.

Hei!

CROCHET INFO: Due to the colour mix none of the squares will be exactly the same, this will make each blanket different. -------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET: 1 ball of Delight makes 10 crochet squares. Crochet a total of 77 squares in Delight. The blanket in the picture is crochet with 10 squares in each of the colours 08, 09 and 11 and 47 squares in colour 10. CROCHET SQUARE: Work 6 ch with crochet hook size 5 mm and Delight and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 3 ch (= 1 tr), crochet 15 tr in ring and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 16 tr. ROUND 2: 5 ch (= 1 tr + 2 ch), * 1 tr in next tr, 2 ch *, repeat from *-* to end and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 16 tr with 2 ch between each. ROUND 3: 1 sl st in first ch-loop, 3 ch (= 1 tr), 2 tr in the same ch-loop, * 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop *, repeat from *-* to end and finish with 1 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. ROUND 4: 1 sl st in each of the first 2 tr, 1 ch, 1 dc around first ch (from previous round), * 3 ch, 1 dc around next ch, 6 ch, 1 dc around next ch, 3 ch, 1 dc around next ch, 3 ch, 1 dc around next ch *, repeat from *-* a total of 4 times, but finish with 1 sl st in dc from beg of round (instead of around next ch). ROUND 5: 1 sl st around first 3-ch-loop, 3 ch (= 1 tr), 2 tr in the same ch-loop, then 5 tr + 2 ch + 5 tr in each 6-ch-loop (= corner), and 3 tr in each 3-ch-loop to end, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Cut and fasten thread. ASSEMBLY: See CROCHET INFO! Place the squares with 7 squares horizontally and 11 vertically. Crochet the squares tog with Fabel – crochet the squares tog vertically and them horizontally as follows: Place 2 squares WS towards WS and crochet tog from RS as follows: 1 dc in corner on first square, 1 ch, 1 dc in corner on next square, 1 ch, 1 dc in next st on first square, 1 ch, 1 dc in next st on second square, 1 ch, 1 dc in next st on first square, 1 ch, 1 dc in next st on second square etc, finish after 1 dc in the last corner on both the squares, cut and fasten thread. NOTE: Make sure to make the transitions between the squares neat when crocheting the squares tog horizontally. CROCHET BORDER: Crochet a border around the whole blanket with crochet hook size 5 mm with Fabel as follows – beg in a corner and crochet from RS: ROUND 1: 1 ch, then 1 dc in each st to end (i.e. 1 dc in each tr, 1 dc in each corner on squares, 2 dc in each transition between the squares and 2 dc in each corner on blanket), finish with 1 sl st in first ch from beg of round. ROUND 2: 3 ch, (= 1 tr), then 1 tr in each dc to end but work 2 tr in each of the 2 dc in each corner on blanket = 4 tr in corners, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. ROUND 3: 3 ch (= 1 tr), then 1 tr in each tr but work 2 tr in each of the 4 tr in each corner on blanket = 8 tr in each corner, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. ROUND 4: 3 ch, * skip 3 tr, 1 dc in next tr, skip 3 tr, 10 tr in next tr *, repeat from *-* to end and finish 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round – adjust so that there is a loop in each corner. |
