How many skeins for this project?
29.03.2013 - 15:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Laurie, Drops Eskimo is 50 g balls, so that 400 g / 50 g = you will need 8 balls Eskimo for that bag. Happy knitting!

DANKE!

Miten laukun korkeus muuttuu huovutuksen yhteydessä vain 39cm --> 36cm? Eikö kutistumista pitäisi tapahtua enemmän? Sivusuunnassa mittojen pitäisi kuitenkin muuttu huomattavasti enemmän (43cm -> 24cm ja 67cm -> 36cm)

Knitting Tension: 10 sts x 14 rows on needles size 9 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Garter sts (back and forth on row): Knit all rows. Knitted back and forth on needle. Cast on 43 sts on needle size 9 mm in Snow and knit 3 rows of garter sts. Continue in stocking sts. When the piece measures 4 cm in. 1 st each side on every 4th row a total of 12 times = 67 sts. When the piece measures 39 cm cast off in K sts but from the WS. Knit another piece. Handle: Cast on 10 sts on needle size 9 mm in Snow. Knit in garter sts until the piece measures approx. 100 cm. Cast off Assembly: Sew the bag tog at the sides and at the bottom. Sew in the most outer part of the most outer st so the seam doesn’t become too chunky. Sew the handle to the bag at each side, approx 2 cm down inside the bag. Flap: Crochet 32 dc from the RS along the top edge of back side of the bag. Turn the piece. 1st row: Crochet 10 ch, 1 tr in the 4th dc. Then crochet as follows: *4 ch, 1 tr in every 4th dc*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 tr in the last dc = 8 ch loop curves. Turn the piece. 2nd round: Crochet 10 ch, 1 tr around the 2nd ch curve from previous round. Then crochet as follows: *4 ch, 1 tr around the following ch loop curve*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 tr around the last ch loop curve = 7 ch loop curves. Repeat the 2nd row (= 1 ch loop curve less each row) until the row is left with 10 ch and 1 tr in the last ch loop curve. Cut the thread. Then crochet 1 round around the whole of the outer edge of the flap as follows: 10 ch, 1 dc around the following curve. At the bottom point crochet 2 curves. Cut and sew the threads. FELTING: The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine, using a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. |
