------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD BEGINNING OF ROW: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. Work in the same way from both the right and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on the right band. 1 BUTTONHOLE = knit together the 4th and 5th stitch from the edge, make 1 yarn over. On the next row knit the yarn over to leave a hole. Work the buttonholes when the piece measures: XS: 5, 11, 17, 23 and 29 cm. S: 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 cm. M: 7, 13, 19, 25 and 31 cm. L: 5, 11, 18, 25 and 32 cm. XL: 6, 12, 19, 26 and 33 cm. XXL: 6, 13, 20, 27 and 34 cm. V-NECK: All decreases are worked from the right side! Decrease for the V-neck inside the 7 band stitches on both front pieces. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Work the band as before, slip 1 stitch, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work until there are 9 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together, work the band as before. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is worked bottom up, back and forth as far as the armholes, then divided and the front and back pieces are finished separately. Stitches are knitted up around the armholes for the sleeves. The sleeves are first work back and forth then in the round. The bands are sewn together mid-back and sewn to the neckline. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. BODY: Cast on 195-215-227-243-257-285 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm, and 1 strand DROPS Fabel and 1 strand DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work as follows, starting from the right side: 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD – read description above, * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 and 7 stitches according to bands with I-cord. Work rib and the bands back and forth for 4-4-5-5-6-6 cm, with the last row from the right side. Remember the BUTTONHOLES – read description above. Change to circular needle size 5 mm and work as follows from the wrong side: 7 band stitches as before, purl and decrease 29-33-33-37-39-43 stitches evenly over the next 181-201-213-229-243-271 stitches, 7 band stitches as before = 166-182-194-206-218-242 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Work the next row from the right side as follows: 7 band stitches as before, knit 38-42-45-48-51-57, insert 1 marker here, knit 76-84-90-96-102-114, insert 1 marker here, knit 38-42-45-48-51-57 and work the 7 band stitches as before. Continue with stocking stitch and bands until the piece measures 29-30-31-32-33-34 cm. Now begin decreasing for the V-NECK – read description above, every 2nd row 20-20-21-21-22-22 times each side. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 33-34-35-36-37-38 cm, divide for the armholes as described below. DIVIDE FOR ARMHOLES: On the next row from the right side (remember to continue the decreases for the V-neck), work as follows: Work until there are 1-4-5-6-8-12 stitches left before the first marker-thread (= right front piece), cast off the next 2-8-10-12-16-24 stitches for the armhole, knit the next 74-76-80-84-86-90 stitches (= back piece) – there are 1-4-5-6-8-12 stitches left before the second marker-thread, cast off the next 2-8-10-12-16-24 stitches, work the remaining stitches as before (= left front piece). The front and back pieces are finished separately. FRONT PIECES: With the first row from the wrong side, continue back and forth with stocking stitch and band, continuing to decrease for the V-neck. When the decreases for the V-neck are finished, there are 24-25-26-28-28-30 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. At the beginning of the next row from the armhole, cast off the first 17-18-19-21-21-23 stitches, leaving only the band stitches on the needle. Continue working the band for a further 15-15-15-15-17-17 cm. Cast off. Work the other front piece in the same way. BACK PIECE: = 74-76-80-84-86-90 stitches. With the first row from the wrong side, continue back and forth with stocking stitch until the piece measures 49-51-53-55-57-59 cm. Cast off the middle 36-36-38-38-40-40 stitches and finish each shoulder separately = 19-20-21-23-23-25 shoulder stitches. On the next row from the neck, cast off 2 stitches for the neckline = 17-18-19-21-21-23 shoulder stitches. Work until the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the buttons onto the left band. Sew the bands together mid-back and sew them to the neckline. SLEEVES: Sleeves are worked from armhole down with circular needle size 5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). From right side pick up 60-64-68-70-74-76 stitches along armhole – starting from bottom of armhole. Insert 1 marker in the middle = mid upper sleeve – measure now sleeve from this marker. Work stocking stitck back and forth until sleeve measures 1-3-3-4-6-8 cm, this matches armhole depth on body. Continue now in stocking stitch, in the round, AT THE SAME TIME, insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (= mid under the sleeve – round start here), let the marker follow the piece, it is used when decreasing mid-under the sleeve. When the sleeve measures 3-5-5-6-7-10 cm from marker on shoulder, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows, decrease 2 stitches every 4½-4-3½-3½-3-2½ cm a total of 9-10-11-11-12-12 times = 42-44-46-48-50-52 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 43-44-43-43-42-42 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME, increase 8-8-8-10-10-10 stitches evenly on the first round = 50-52-54-58-60-62 stitches. Cast off when the rib measures 4-4-5-5-6-6 cm. The sleeve measures 47-48-48-48-48-48 cm from the shoulder. Sew the split to the bottom f the armhole. |
