Bon tricot!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (when working back and forth): Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. Choose diagram for desired size (applies to A.1 and A.2). INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 149 stitches), minus bands (e.g. 14 stitches) and divide the remaining stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 34) = 3.9. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch (do not increase over bands). On next row work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 4 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 4 (marker thread is in the middle of these 4 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 4 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows: Work until 6 stitches remain on row, work 4 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Work the same way both from right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 6-6-6-6-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 7-7½-8-8-7-7½ cm apart. Place bottom buttonhole in the transition between stocking stitch and rib. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 149-153-159-167-173-181 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with DROPS Baby Merino. Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm (cast on on a larger needle to get an elastic cast-on edge). Work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Work 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above, work rib until 7 stitches remain, work 7 stitches band with i-cord - remember explanation above. ROW 2 (= right side): Work band stitches as before, knit until 7 stitches remain, work band as before. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Work band as before, purl until 7 stitches remain, work band as before. ROW 4 (= right side): Work band as before, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) until 8 stitches remain on needle, knit 1 and work band as before. ROW 5 (= wrong side): Work band as before, work rib (= purl 1/knit 1) until 8 stitches remain on needle, purl 1 and work band as before. AFTER 5TH ROW: Then work in stocking stitch until neck edge measures 5-5-6-6-7-7 cm from cast-on edge. Insert a maker on the inside of band in one side of piece (= mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 3 mm and work first row from the right side starting from mid front as follows: Work band as before, work 135-139-145-153-159-167 stitches in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 34-36-38-40-42-46 stitches evenly over these stitches – read INCREASE TIP, work band as before = 183-189-197-207-215-227 stitches on needle. Then work in stocking stitch and band. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When yoke measures 3-3-3-3-4-4 cm from marker, increase 37-39-39-41-41-49 stitches evenly – remember INCREASE TIP (do not increase over bands) = 220-228-236-248-256-276 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch and band until piece measures 4-5-5-5-6-6 cm from marker. Now work PATTERN – see explanation above, i.e. work next row as follows from right side: Work band as before, work A.1 51-53-55-58-60-65 times in total along yoke, work A.2, work band as before. AT THE SAME TIME on every row marked with arrow in A.1 increase stitches evenly as explained below - remember INCREASE TIP (do not increase over bands): Arrow-1: Increase 24-24-28-32-32-40 stitches evenly = 244-252-264-280-288-316 stitches. Arrow-2: Increase 24-28-32-36-40-44 stitches evenly = 268-280-296-316-328-360 stitches. Arrow-3: Increase 30-30-38-42-54-58 stitches evenly = 298-310-334-358-382-418 stitches. Increase as shown in diagram = 346-360-388-416-444-486 stitches on needle before arrow 4. Arrow-4: Increase 22-32-32-36-40-42 stitches evenly = 368-392-420-452-484-528 stitches. Work next row as follows from right side: Work band as before, work A.3 88-94-101-109-117-128 times in total, work A.4, work band as before. Continue pattern as follows - AT THE SAME TIME on every row marked with arrow in A.3 increase stitches evenly as follows: Arrow-5: Increase 24-24-32-36-36-36 stitches evenly = 392-416-452-488-520-564 stitches. Arrow-6: Increase 10-14-10-26-26-26 stitches evenly = 402-430-462-514-546-590 stitches. When A.3 and A.4 have been worked vertically yoke measures approx. 19-20-20-23-24-24 cm from marker. Work in stocking stitch and band. When yoke measures 20-22-23-23-25-27 cm from marker mid front, divide piece for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 67-72-76-83-90-98 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 74-78-86-98-100-106 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 10-10-12-12-14-14 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 120-130-138-152-166-182 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 74-78-86-98-100-106 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 10-10-12-12-14-14 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 67-72-76-83-90-98 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 274-294-314-342-374-406 stitches. Work in stocking stitch and band as before until piece measures 43-45-47-47-49-51 cm from marker mid front. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 35-41-45-47-53-57 stitches evenly on row (do not increase over bands) = 309-335-359-389-427-463 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm, work band as before, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1 - remember increase) until 8 stitches remain, knit 1 and band as before stitch. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Jacket measures 47-49-51-52-54-56 cm from marker mid front and approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 74-78-86-98-100-106 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 3 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 10-10-12-12-14-14 stitches cast on under sleeve = 84-88-98-110-114-120 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 10-10-12-12-14-14 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 3-3-4-5-5-6 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 1½-1½-1-1-1-1 cm 7-7-10-14-14-15 times in total = 64-68-70-72-76-78 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 43-41-41-41-40-38 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6-6-8-8-8-8 stitches evenly on 1st round = 70-74-78-80-84-86 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 47-45-45-46-45-43 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons on to the left band. |
