Hi again, The diagram translates as follows (the = symbols following the same order as in the Scandinavian explanation): = knit from the right side, purl from the wrong side = purl from the right side, knit from the wrong side = K2 tog, yo = yo, slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso = knit the following 3 sts as follows: purl them together without slipping them off left needle, now knit the same 3 sts tog without slipping off left needle and purl them tog. You now have 3 new sts on right needle and have to slip the 3 "old" sts off left needle. This creates a small bubble. Hope it makes sense! Birgitte & Karen Scandinavian Knitting Design

Knitted DROPS jacket in "Vivaldi" with textured pattern and crochet ruffle- edge
DROPS 74-23 |
||||||||||||||||
Knitting tension: 20 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm with needle size 3.5 mm and stocking stitch. Remember needle size is only a guide! Pattern: See diagrams M.1 and M.2. Pattern in diagram is seen from the right side. Ridge/Garter stitch (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. Band: The 3 band stitches are worked as follows from edge (seen from right side): 1 stitch garter stitch, K1 and P1. Decrease tip (for neckline): Decrease on inside of 3 stitches worked as follows from edge: 1 stitch garter stitch, K1 and P1. All decreases are worked from the right side. Decrease as follows after the 3 stitches: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, K1, pass slipped stitch over. Decrease as follows before the 3 stitches: K2 together. --------------------------------------------------------- Body: The jacket is worked back and forth with circular needle from mid front. Cast on 189-209-229-249 stitches (incl. 3 band stitches on each side towards mid front) with circular needle size 3.5 mm and 2 strands Vivaldi. Remove the one strand and knit 1 row from wrong side. Next row is worked as follows from right side: 1 stitch garter stitch, K1 and P1, M.1 over 183-203-223-243 stitches, P1, K1, 1 stitch garter stitch. Work pattern in this way upwards. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 20 cm work 1 row stocking stitch (band is worked as described above) at the same time as you decrease 20 stitches evenly on row = 169-189-209-229 stitches. Continue with M.2 to finished length (bands as before). Read the whole of the next section before continuing! Insert 1 marker thread 44-49-54-59 stitches in from each side, there should be 81-91-101-111 stitches between marker threads on back piece. Neck: When piece measures 30-31-32-33 cm decrease towards mid front for neck every 4th row - see Decrease tip: 1 stitch 13-14-14-15 times. Armhole: At the same time, when piece measures 35-36-37-38 cm, cast off 5 stitches in each side for armholes (i.e. 2 stitches on front side of marker thread and 3 stitches on back side of marker thread). Each piece is finished separately. Right front piece: Continue to decrease for neck, at the same time as you decrease for armhole in the side every 2nd row: 2 stitches 0-1-2-4 times and 1 stitch 2-4-6-6 times. After all decreases for armhole and neck, there are 27-27-28-28 stitches left on shoulder. NOTE: Do not work "knots" right out by the armhole, there should be at least 4 stitches stocking stitch before the outermost knot - towards neck, the knots gradually disappear into the neck decreases. Cast off the remaining stitches when piece measures 54-56-58-60 cm. Left front piece: Finish working as for right piece, but in reverse. Back piece: = 75-85-95-105 stitches. Continue to decrease for armholes in each side as for front piece = 71-73-75-77 stitches left on needle. When piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm, cast off the middle 13-15-15-17 stitches for neck. Then decrease towards neck every 2nd row - see Decrease tip: 1 stitch 2 times = 27-27-28-28 stitches left on each shoulder. Cast off the remaining stitches when piece measures 54-56-58-60 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 50-50-60-60 stitches with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and 2 strands Vivaldi. Remove the 1 strand and purl 1 row, continue with M.1 over all stitches. When piece measures 14 cm work the first 7 rows of M.2 (= 1 row of "knots"), continue with stocking stitch. At the same time, after M.1, increase 2 stitches mid under sleeve 9-11-8-10 times for: Sizes S and L: Every 12th round. Sizes M and XL: Every 9th round = 68-72-76-80 stitches. When piece measures 52-50-48-46 cm cast off 6 stitches mid under sleeve and finish working back and forth on needle. Continue by decreasing for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 3-2-2-2 times, 1 stitch 0-5-7-10 times, then 2 stitches until piece measures 58 cm, then decrease 3 stitches 1 time. Cast off the remaining stitches, when piece measures approx. 59 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Crochet with hook size 3.5 mm up along the one band, around neck and down the other band, inside the 1 edge stitch as follows: 1 double crochet, * 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches/rows around neck and 4 rows along band and fasten with 1 double crochet in next stitch *, repeat from *-*. Cut the strand. Start to crochet again where the neckline starts on the right front piece. Row 1: 1 double crochet in chain-space, * 6 chain stitches, fasten with 1 double crochet in next chain-space *, repeat from *-*, finish with 1 chain stitch where the neckline starts on left front piece, turn piece. Row 2: Work slip stitches to the middle of the first chain-space, 1 double crochet, * 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in next chain-space, 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in same chain-space *, repeat from *-*, finish with 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in last chain-space and 1 chain stitch, turn piece. Row 3: Work slip stitches to the middle of the first chain-space from previous row, then work picot-edge as follows: 1 double crochet, * 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in the first of the 3 chain stitches, fasten with 1 double crochet in same chain-space from previous row, 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in the first of the 3 chain stitches, fasten with 1 double crochet in next chain-space from previous row, 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in first of the 3 chain stitches, fasten with 1 double crochet in next chain-space from previous row *, repeat from *-*. Sew in sleeves. Sew buttons on, evenly spaced along M.2 before the start of the neckline; chain-spaces from crochet edge on band are used as buttonholes. |
