Can I get clarification? In the 3rd paragraph for Sleeves: Decrease 2 stitches ***14-8-7-4-3-2½-2 cm *** 3-5-7-10-13-14-16 times = 61-63-65-67-67-69-71 stitches on needle. *14 | 8 | 7 | 4 | 3 | 2½ | 2 cm* I am stumped. Could I please get clarification? Thank you for taking the time to assist.

Hi Julie, I have checked the US English site and it states that you decrease 2 stitches ..... 14-8-7-4-3-2½-2 cm a total of 3-5-7-10-13-14-16 times = 61-63-65-67-67-69-71 stitches on needle". There should be an "every" before the measurements, so decrease 2 stitches as described in Decrease tip, then (in the smallest size) decrease again after working 14 cm, 2 more times. Hope this helps. Regards, Drops Team.

Why are all the Buttons blends on all the men cardigans on the wrong Side ?
21.10.2026 - 20:26DROPS Design answered:
Hi Lillianne, We have buttonholes on the right band in all our patterns (no difference between men's and women's patterns). You can of course adjust this and work the buttonholes on the left band if you wish. Regards, Drops Team.

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 5 stitches in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after the neck border has been worked. Then decrease the next 6-6-6-7-7-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 9-9-9½-8½-8½-8½-9 cm apart. Adjust so that bottom buttonhole is placed in the transition between stocking stitch and rib on body. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. RAGLAN: All increases are done from right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop that is in front the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP: When increasing stitches evenly in transition for rib, there will be an even increase if you increase where stitches are going to be purled, the stitches in stocking stitch will then continue nicely over into rib. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, and work top down with increases for raglan. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 119-119-121-127-135-137-141 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm with DROPS Saga or DROPS Karisma. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work next row as follows from right side: Work 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above, work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1) until 8 stitches remain on row, knit 1 and 7 stitches band with I-cord. Continue rib like this for 3-3-3-3½-3½-4-4 cm – finish with a row from the right side. Continue to work a neck border with band in each side as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Number of stitches is doubled (does not apply to bands): Work band as before, * purl 1, make 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, work band as before = 224-224-228-240-256-260-268 stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Work band as before, * slip yarn over on to right needle without working it, when yarn over is slipped insert right needle into the stitch as if to purl and with strand in front of piece, knit 1 *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain on needle, work band as before. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Work band as before, * slip next stitch on to right needle without working it, when slipping the stitch insert right needle into stitch as if to purl with strand in front of piece, knit 1 *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, work band as before. ROW 4 (= right side): Work band as before, * slip next stitch on to right needle without working it, when slipping the stitch insert right needle into stitch as if to purl with strand in front of piece, knit 1 *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, work band as before. ROW 5 (= wrong side): Number of stitches is halved (does not apply to bands): Work band as before, * knit 2 together *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, work band as before = 119-119-121-127-135-137-141 stitches. After the neck border insert 1 marker on the inside of band in one side of piece (= mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Continue with circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 8 markers in the piece without working the stitches, insert markers on each side of 6 stitches, these 6 stitches are increased to 8 stitches on first row. These 8 stitches are called raglan stitches. Increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Work raglan stitches work in PATTERN - read explanation above. Count 18-18-18-20-20-20-20 stitches (= left front piece), insert 1st marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 2nd marker before next stitch, count 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 stitches (= sleeve), insert 3rd marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 4th marker before next stitch, count 21-21-23-25-25-27-27 stitches (= back piece), insert 5th marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 6th marker before next stitch, count 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 stitches (= sleeve), insert 7th marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 8th marker before next stitch. 18-18-18-20-20-20-20 stitches remain on row for right front piece. Then work stocking stitch with 7 stitches band in each side as before and pattern over raglan stitches. AT THE SAME TIME increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches – read explanation on how to increase and work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work band as before, knit 11-11-11-13-13-13-13, increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 1st and 2nd marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 3rd and 4th marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 21-21-23-25-25-27-27 (= back piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 5th and 6th marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 7th and 8th marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 11-11-11-13-13-13-13 and work band as before – remember to decrease for BUTTONHOLES – read explanation above = 135-135-137-143-151-153-157 stitches. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work stocking stitch, pattern and bands as before – remember to work yarn overs as explained in RAGLAN. A.1 is now done. ROW 3 (= right side): Work stocking stitch and bands as before but now work A.2 between 1st and 2nd marker and between 5th and 6th marker and work A.3 between 3rd and 4th marker and between 7th and 8th marker. Increase in addition for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work stocking stitch, pattern and bands as before - work yarn overs twisted as before. Work 3rd and 4th ROW 8-12-17-23-22-22-18 times in total (= 18-26-36-48-46-46-38 rows worked after neck border) = 199-231-273-327-327-329-301 stitches on needle. Remember to follow the knitting tension! Then work and increase for raglan as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work stocking stitch, pattern and bands as before and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work stocking stitch, pattern and bands as before (work yarn overs as before). ROW 3 (= right side): Work stocking stitch, pattern and bands as before and increase for raglan on front pieces and back piece, i.e. increase BEFORE 1st and 5th marker and AFTER 4th and 8th marker - do not increase stitches on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work stocking stitch and bands as before (work yarn overs as before). Work 1st to 4th ROW 10-9-7-5-7-8-12 times in total (= 40-36-28-20-28-32-48 rows worked = 10-9-7-5-7-8-12 increases on sleeves and 20-18-14-10-14-16-24 increases on front pieces/back piece). All increases for raglan are now done, piece measures approx. 21-22-23-24-26-28-31 cm from marker mid front, 19-22-25-29-30-31-31 increases in total have been done on sleeves and 29-31-32-34-37-39-43 increases on front pieces/back piece = 319-339-357-387-411-425-445 stitches on needle. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing the piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front pieces/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 55-58-60-65-69-72-76 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 57-61-65-71-75-75-77 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 95-101-107-115-123-131-139 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 57-61-65-71-75-75-77 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 55-58-60-65-69-72-76 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 225-241-255-277-297-319-343 stitches. Work stocking stitch, pattern and bands as before until piece measures 53-55-57-59-59-61-63 cm from marker mid front – NOTE! Work stitches cast on under each sleeve in stocking stitch. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 26-32-34-42-44-54-56 stitches evenly on 1st row - read INCREASE TIP (do not increase over bands) = 251-273-289-319-341-373-399 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm, work band as before, work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1 - remember increase, NOTE! You should increase 1 stitch in A.2 and A.3 so that the rib fits nicely over the pattern), work until 8 stitches remain, knit 1 and work band as before. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl or use Italian cast-off. Jacket measures 57-59-61-63-64-66-68 cm from marker mid front and approx. 62-64-66-68-70-72-74 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 57-61-65-71-75-75-77 sleeve stitches from one thread on to needle size 4 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 67-73-79-87-93-97-103 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 2 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 14-8-7-4-3-2½-2 cm 3-5-7-10-13-14-16 times = 61-63-65-67-67-69-71 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 44-44-44-43-41-40-38 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 13-13-15-15-15-15-15 stitches evenly on 1st round = 74-76-80-82-82-84-86 stitches. When rib measures 6-6-6-6-7-7-7 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl or use Italian cast-off. Sleeve measures approx. 50-50-50-49-48-47-45 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
