------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.2 and A.3). INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase/decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 216 stitches), and divide by the number of increases/decreases to be made (e.g. 4) = 54. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately each 54th stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. When decreasing, knit together each 53rd and 54th stitch. INCREASE TIP (for sides of body): Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 6 (marker thread sits between these 6 stitches) make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 6th stitch at the same time as casting off and the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down from mid back. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles, top down. NECK: Cast on 60-65-65-70-75-85 stitches with short circular needle size 4.5 mm and Air. Knit 1 round. Then work A.1 in the round (= 12-13-13-14-15-17 repeats of 5 stitches). When A.1 is finished there are 72-78-78-84-90-102 stitches on the needle. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the round (= mid-front). The yoke is measured from this marker! YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5.5 mm and work A.2 in the round (= 12-13-13-14-15-17 repeats of 6 stitches). Continue this pattern and increase as shown in the diagram. When A.2 has been completed in height there are 216-234-260-280-300-340 stitches on the needle and the piece measures approx. 17-17-19-19-19-19 cm from the marker on the neck. Continue with A.3 until the piece measures 17-19-21-23-25-27 cm from the marker on the neck (in XS only work A.3 if the piece is shorter than 17 cm when A.2 is finished). Knit 1 round where the number of stitches is adjusted to 220-236-260-276-304-332 stitches (i.e. in XS, S and XL increase 4-2-4 stitches evenly spaced, in M the number of stitches stays the same, in L and XXL decrease 4-8 stitches evenly spaced) – read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 220-236-260-276-304-332 stitches. Now divide the piece for body and sleeves on the next round, working as follows from mid back: Work 32-35-39-41-45-50 stitches in stocking stitch (= ½ back piece), place the next 46-48-52-56-62-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve), work 64-70-78-82-90-100 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), place the next 46-48-52-56-62-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve) and work the remaining 32-35-39-41-45-50 stitches in stocking stitch (= ½ back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 140-152-168-180-196-216 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each side of the body, in the middle of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under each sleeve (= 70-76-84-90-98-108 stitches between marker threads). Allow the threads to follow your work onwards; they will be used when increasing in the sides. Work stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 4 cm from the division, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads – read INCREASE TIP (= 4 stitches increased). Increase like this every 6 cm a total of 3 times each side = 152-164-180-192-208-228 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 26 cm from the division (there is approx. 4 cm left to finished length; try the jumper on and work to desired length). Knit 1 round where you increase 8-8-10-10-10-12 stitches evenly spaced – remember INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 160-172-190-202-218-240 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1 / purl 1) for 4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP! The jumper measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 46-48-52-56-62-66 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 52-54-58-64-70-74. Work stocking stitch in the round until the sleeve measures 29-28-27-25-23-20 cm from the division (there is approx. 4 cm left to finished length; try the jumper on and work to desired length). NOTE: Shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke. Change to short circular needle/double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1 / purl 1) for 4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The sleeve measures approx. 33-32-31-29-27-24 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
