------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch. RAGLAN: The increases for raglan are drawn into diagrams A.1 to A.3 and are worked from the right side. From the wrong side work the yarn overs as follows: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH: Purl through the back loop to avoid a hole, then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH: Slip the yarn-over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Purl through the front loop to avoid a hole, then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). BUTTONHOLES: Work a buttonhole by knitting 2 together and making 1 yarn over. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The yoke is worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. Bands are knitted up and worked on each front piece. Finally, stitches are knitted up along the neckline and the neck is finished back and forth. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. YOKE: Cast on 106-110-114-118-126-130-134 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine or DROPS Puna. Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: Work 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, purl until there is 1 stitch left, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Insert 1 marker in the first stitch (mid-front), the yoke is measured from here Insert 4 more markers without working the stitches, the markers should be inserted in one stitch; these are the raglan-stitches and they are middle stitches in A.1/A.2/A.3. Count 17-18-19-20-21-22-23 stitches (= left front piece), insert marker-1 in the next stitch, count 17-17-17-17-19-19-19 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 34-36-38-40-42-44-46 stitches (= back piece), insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 17-17-17-17-19-19-19 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-4 in the next stitch. There are 17-18-19-20-21-22-23 stitches left on the right front piece. Work stocking stitch back and forth with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side and increase for RAGLAN on each side of the 4 raglan-stitches – read explanation above. ROW 1 (right side): Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, knit to 2 stitches before marker-1, work A.1, knit to 2 stitches before marker-2, work A.1, knit to 2 stitches before marker-3, work A.1, knit to 2 stitches before marker-4, work A.1, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (4 increased stitches). ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl and continue A.1 (edge stitches worked in garter stitch) – remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN. ROW 3 (right side): Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, knit to 3 stitches before marker-1, work A.1, knit to 3 stitches before marker-2, work A.1, knit to 3 stitches before marker-3, work A.1, knit to 3 stitches before marker-4, work A.1, knit until there is 1 stitch left, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (8 increased stitches). ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl and continue A.1 (edge stitches worked in garter stitch) – remember to work the yarn overs as described under RAGLAN. Work ROWS 1 to 4 onwards. When A.1 is finished, repeat the diagram in height until it has been worked a total of 6-8-10-10-9-10-9 times (24-32-40-40-36-40-36 rows worked) = 202-238-274-278-270-290-278 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now work and increase for raglan as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, knit to 2 stitches before marker-1, work A.2, knit to 2 stitches before marker-2, work A.3, knit to 2 stitches before marker-3, work A.2, knit to 2 stitches before marker-4, work A.3, knit until there is 1 stitch left, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (8 increased stitches). ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl and continue A.2/A.3 (edge stitches worked in garter stitch). Work ROWS 1 to 4 onwards. When A.2/A.3 is finished, repeat the diagrams in height until they have been worked a total of 7-6-5-6-8-8-11 times (28-24-20-24-32-32-44 rows worked: 7-6-5-6-8-8-11 increases in height on the sleeves and 14-12-10-12-16-16-22 increases in height on the front and back pieces) = 286-310-334-350-366-386-410 stitches. All the increases for raglan are finished: A total of 26-28-30-32-34-36-40 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 19-22-25-26-26-28-29 increases in height on the sleeves. Continue with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch on each side without increasing until the yoke measures 21-22-24-25-25-27-29 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing, the raglan-stitches will be on the front and back pieces. Work 44-47-51-53-57-61-66 stitches as before (= front piece), place the next 55-61-65-69-69-71-73 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-18-22-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work 88-94-102-106-114-122-132 stitches (= back piece), place the next 55-61-65-69-69-71-73 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-18-22-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work the last 44-47-51-53-57-61-66 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 192-208-228-240-264-288-312 stitches. Continue stocking stitches and the edge stitches as before until the piece measures 41-44-46-47-48-50-51 cm from the marker mid-front. On the next row begin the rib, increasing 39-43-47-53-55-55-63 stitches evenly = 231-251-275-293-319-343-375 stitches. Work as follows: Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, rib (knit 1, purl 1 – remember to increase) until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. When the rib measures 2-2-2-3-3-3-4 cm, cast off slightly loosely with rib. The jacket measures approx. 43-46-48-50-51-53-55 cm from the marker mid-front and 47-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 55-61-65-69-69-71-73 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder on circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-18-22-24 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 63-71-77-83-87-93-97 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-18-22-24 stitches under the sleeve - the round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round 0-2-3-3-3-3-3 times, then decrease 2 stitches every 11-8-5-4-3½-2½-2 cm a total of 4-5-6-8-9-11-12 times = 55-57-59-61-63-65-67 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 39-39-38-36-37-35-33 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 11-11-11-13-13-13-13 stitches evenly on the first round = 66-68-70-74-76-78-80 stitches. When the rib measures 2-2-2-3-3-3-4 cm, cast off slightly loosely with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 41-41-40-39-40-38-37 cm from the division. LEFT BAND: Use circular needle size 3 mm. Knit up from the right side on the left front piece (inside the 1 edge stitch and starting by the neckline) 109-117-121-127-129-135-139 stitches (approx. 25 stitches per10 cm, with the stitch count divisible by 2 + 1). Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, rib (purl 1, knit 1) until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 3-3-3-4-4-4-5 cm. Cast off slightly loosely with rib. RIGHT BAND: Use circular needle size 3 mm. Knit up from the right side, starting at the bottom of the right front piece, 109-117-121-127-129-135-139 stitches (making sure there are the same number of stitches as on the left front piece). Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, rib (purl 1, knit 1) until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. When the band measures 1½-1½-1½-2-2-2-2 cm, work 6-6-6-7-7-7-7 BUTTONHOLES – read explanation above. The top buttonhole is placed 6-6½-7-5½-5½-6-5 cm from the top and the bottom buttonhole 2-2½-1-2½-3½-2-1 cm from the bottom edge, with the other buttonholes divided evenly in between. After the buttonholes, continue the band to the same length as the left band. Cast off slightly loosely with rib. NECK: Using circular needle size 3 mm, knit up from the right side 127-131-135-143-157-161-165 stitches around the neckline (with the stitch count divisible by 2 + 1). Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, rib (purl 1, knit 1) until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 1-1-1-1½-1½-1½-2 cm then work the last buttonhole above the others on the right band. Continue working until the neck measures 2-2-2-3-3-3-4 cm.
