Buon lavoro!

Knitted jumper with round yoke, rib and A-shape, worked top down. Sizes S - XXXL. The piece is worked in DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk.
DROPS 184-4 |
||||
INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN: RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the rib being tight, knit 1 round over all stitches every 8th round throughout the yoke. INCREASE TIP-1: Increase 1 stitch in each purl section by making 1 yarn over before each knitted stitch the whole round. On the next round, purl the yarn overs twisted to prevent holes (the yarn overs are knitted twisted if on a round of knit – read KNITTING TIP). The next time you increase in each purl section make 1 yarn over after the knitted stitches, the yarn overs are purled twisted on the next round (knitted twisted if on a round of knit). Continue the increases in this way alternately before and after the knitted stitches. INCREASE TIP-2: To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 207 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 5) = 41.4. In this example, you increase alternately after approx. the 41st and 42nd stitch. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, on the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to prevent holes. INCREASE TIP-3 (for sides in body): Start 1 stitch before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round knit the yarn overs to make holes. DECREASE TIP (for mid under sleeve): Start 3 stitches before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- NECKLINE: Cast on 69-69-75-75-78-84 stitches with short circular needle size 4.5 mm and 2 strands Brushed Alpaca Silk. Knit 1 round. Remove one of the strands and continue working with just 1 strand Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work rib in the round (= knit 1 / purl 2) for 5 cm. YOKE: Change to short circular needle size 5.5 mm. Continue rib - read KNITTING TIP! When the piece measures 6 cm increase 1 stitch in each purl section – read INCREASE TIP-1. Repeat the increases when the piece measures: S: 8, 10, 13, 16 and 19 cm = 207 stitches. M: 8, 10, 12, 15, 18 and 21 cm = 230 stitches. L: 8, 10, 13, 16, 19 and 23 cm = 250 stitches. XL: 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 21 and 25 cm = 275 stitches. XXL: 8, 10, 13, 16, 19, 23 and 27 cm = 286 stitches. XXXL: 8, 10, 13, 16, 19, 23 and 28 cm = 308 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue rib with knit 1 and purl 8-9-9-10-10-10 until the piece measures 23-25-27-29-31-33 cm from the cast-on edge. Knit 1 round where you increase 5-6-6-5-10-4 stitches evenly on round – read INCREASE TIP-2 = 212-236-256-280-296-312 stitches. The next round is worked as follows: Place the first 42-48-52-56-58-58 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on the needle (= in the side under the sleeve), knit 64-70-76-84-90-98 stitches (= front piece), place the next 42-48-52-56-58-58 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on the needle (= in the side under the sleeve) and knit the remaining 64-70-76-84-90-98 stitches (= back piece). Body and sleeves are now continued separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 140-152-168-184-200-220 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each side, i.e. in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve in each side. Work stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 1 cm from the separation, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads – read INCREASE TIP-3 (= 4 stitches increased). Increase in this way every 6th round until the piece measures 30 cm from the separation (if the knitting tension is correct in height, this is equivalent to 10 increase in each side) = approx. 180-192-208-224-240-260 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Work 3 RIDGES in the round – see description above. Then loosely cast off with 2 strands Brushed Alpaca Silk. The jumper measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 42-48-52-56-58-58 stitches from the thread in one side of the piece on short circular needle size 5.5 mm and, in addition, knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 48-54-60-64-68-70 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread mid under sleeve, i.e. in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches knitted up under the sleeve. Work stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 3-3-2-2-2-2 cm from the separation decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease in this way every 4-3-2½-2-2-1½ cm a total of 8-10-12-14-15-15 times = 32-34-36-36-38-40 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 40-39-37-36-35-33 cm from the separation under the sleeve. Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm. Work 3 ridges in the round. Then loosely cast off with 2 strands Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
