---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 4 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows: Work until 6 stitches remain on row, work 4 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Work the same way both from right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 4 stitches remain on row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. On next row (wrong side) knit the yarn over to make a hole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 5-5-6-6-6-6 buttonholes, approx. 9-9½-8-8½-9-9 cm apart. NOTE! Adjust so that last buttonhole is placed in the transition between stocking stitch and rib at the bottom on front piece. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern long and short needles have been used, begin with fitting length and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. When yoke is done, divide stitches for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 121-125-133-139-143-149 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with DROPS Belle or DROPS Cotton Light. Work rib as follows from right side: 6 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above - * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until 7 stitches remain, knit 1 and 6 stitches band with I-cord. Continue rib back and forth like this for 4 cm, adjust after a row from wrong side. Insert 1 marker on the inside of band, measure yoke from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1 row from right side while increasing 3-6-5-13-16-17 stitches evenly (do not increase over bands), remember BUTTONHOLES on right band - read explanation above = 124-131-138-152-159-166 stitches. Then work stocking stitch back and forth with 6 stitches band in each side as before. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When yoke measures 3-3-4-5-6-7 cm from marker, work PATTERN - read explanation above, i.e. work first row as follows from right side: 6 stitches band as before, work A.1 16-17-18-20-21-22 times in total, finish with 6 stitches band as before. Continue pattern like this. When A.1 has been worked, there are 348-369-390-432-453-474 stitches on row and piece measures approx. 18-18-19-21-22-23 cm from marker. Then work stocking stitch with 6 stitches band in each side as before. AT THE SAME TIME on first row from right side decrease 24-17-14-20-17-2 stitches evenly (do not decrease over bands) = 324-352-376-412-436-472 stitches. Work until yoke measures 19-21-22-23-25-27 cm from marker. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 54-59-62-67-72-79 stitches as before (front piece), slip the next 60-64-70-78-80-84 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on needle (in the side under sleeve), work 96-106-112-122-132-146 stitches in stocking stitch (back piece), slip the next 60-64-70-78-80-84 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on needle (in the side under sleeve), and work the last 54-59-62-67-72-79 stitches as before (front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. Now measure piece from here! BODY: = 220-240-256-276-300-328 stitches. Work in stocking stitch back and forth with 6 stitches band in each side, until piece measures 26-26-26-27-27-27 cm from division. Knit 1 row from right side while increasing 45-45-49- 55-61-63 stitches evenly( do not increase over bands) 265-285-305-331-361-391 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm. Now work rib as follows from wrong side: 6 stitches band as before, * purl 1, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* until 7 stitches remain, purl 1 and 6 stitches band as before. Continue rib back and forth like this for 4 cm. Cast off. Jacket measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip the 60-64-70-78-80-84 stitches from thread in one side of piece on double pointed needles/a circular needle size 4 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches cast on under sleeve = 68-72-80-88-92-96 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under sleeve. Begin round at the marker, and work stocking stitch in the round until sleeve measures 19-17-17-17-15-13 cm from division. 4 cm remain until finished measurements. Try the jacket and work to desired length before rib. Knit 1 round while decreasing 10-12-12-14-16-16 stitches evenly = 58-60-68-74-76-80 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib in the round = knit 1/purl 1 for 4 cm. Cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 23-21-21-21-19-17 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons on to the left band. |
