Bon crochet!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: When working back and forth, replace the first double crochet with 3 chain stitches. The last double crochet on the row is worked in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the row. When working in the round, replace the first double crochet with 3 chain stitches. At the end of the round, work 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the row, turn and work the next round from the wrong side, i.e., alternate rounds from the right and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.1). The diagrams show all rows of the pattern, seen from the right side. MEASURING TIP: All length measurements are taken when holding the piece up to prevent the garment being too long when worn. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): Increase 1 stitch by working 2 stitches in the same stitch. To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the row/round (e.g., 152 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 4) = 38. In this example work 2 double crochets in every 38th double crochet. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- DRESS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked top down. Begin with the right strap and front piece, working back and forth until the increases are finished. Work 3 more pieces in the same way. All 4 pieces are then joined and continued in the round, alternately from the right and wrong side. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. RIGHT STRAP AND FRONT PIECE: Use hook size 4 MM = US 6 and DROPS Cotton Light. Read CHAIN STITCH and CROCHET INFORMATION above. Work 12-12-14-14-14-14 chain stitches. Work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain stitch from the hook (3 chain stitches replace the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in each of the remaining 7-7-9-9-9-9 chain stitches = 9-9-11-11-11-11 double crochets. Read PATTERN and work the next row as follows: A.1a (= 9-9-11-11-11-11 stitches). Work A.1a back and forth until the piece measures 4-4-5-5-4-3 cm = 1½"-1½"-2"-2"-1½"-1⅛". Work A.1b 1 time = 12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches. Remember to maintain the crochet gauge. The strap is finished. Continue back and forth increasing for the front piece from both the right and wrong side as follows – note that the 3 first and 3 last stitches on the row are worked as before: Work A.2 across the first 5 stitches (including chain stitch), 1 double crochet in each double crochet until there are 5 stitches left (including chain stitch), A.3 across the last 5 stitches (= 2 stitches increased). Work this row a total of 11-12-12-13-14-16 times – increasing from both the right and wrong sides (= 22-24-24-26-28-32 increased stitches) = 34-36-40-42-44-48 stitches. The piece measures approx. 17-18-19-20-21-22 cm = 6¾"-7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾" from top of shoulder. Lay the piece to one side and work 3 more sections in the same way (= left front, right back and left back pieces). DRESS: Continue as follows in the round, across all 4 sections, alternately from the right and wrong side, making sure all pieces have the same side out so the textured pattern is the maintained: Work 4-5-5-7-8-10 chain stitches, work 1 double crochet in each stitch across the right front piece (= 34-36-40-42-44-48 double crochets), work 1 double crochet in each stitch across the left front piece (= 34-36-40-42-44-48 double crochets), work 8-10-10-14-16-20 chain stitches (under armhole), work 1 double crochet in each stitch across the left back piece (= 34-36-40-42-44-48 double crochets), work 1 double crochet in each stitch across the right back piece (= 34-36-40-42-44-48 double crochets), work 4-5-5-7-8-10 chain stitches, finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch, turn. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (under armhole). On the next round work 1 double crochet in each double crochet/chain stitch = 152-164-180-196-208-232 double crochets – remember CROCHET INFORMATION for how to end each round. Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet, alternately from the right and wrong side until the piece measures 12-12-13-13-14-14 cm = 4¾"-4¾"-5⅛"-5⅛"-5½"-5½" from the marker – read MEASURING TIP. Continue as follows: 1 double crochet, work A.4 until there is 1 stitch left, 1 double crochet. Work A.4 a total of 6 times in height, increasing as follows every 4th round: INCREASE 1: Increase 4 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 156-168-184-200-212-236 stitches. INCREASE 2: Increase 8 stitches evenly spaced = 164-176-192-208-220-244 stitches. INCREASE 3: Increase 10 stitches evenly spaced = 174-186-202-218-230-254 stitches. INCREASE 4: Increase 6-6-6-6-8-6 stitches evenly spaced = 180-192-208-224-238-260 stitches. INCREASE 5: Increase 4 stitches evenly spaced = 184-196-212-228-242-264 stitches. INCREASE 6: Increase 0-2-0-0-2-2 stitches evenly spaced = 184-198-212-228-244-266 stitches. When A.4 has been worked 6 times in height, there are 184-198-212-228-244-266 stitches. The piece measures approx. 52-52-53-53-54-54 cm = 20½"-20½"-21"-21"-21¼"-21¼" from the marker and 67-70-72-73-75-76 cm = 26⅜"-27½"-28⅜"-28¾"-29½"-29½" from top of strap – remember MEASURING TIP. Continue with 1 double crochet in each double crochet until the dress measures 75-77-79-81-83-85 cm = 29½"-30⅜"-31"-32"-32¾"-33½" from top of strap or to desired length. ASSEMBLY: Sew the straps together (over shoulders). |
