I wanted to ask regarding the buttons. I don’t see the instruction on where to make the hole for them. Is it a miss or the pictures are not adequate to the pattern and there is no buttons planned for this one? Unless it is up to the crocheter to add the holes for buttons.

Hi Martyna, The buttons are buttoned between 2 treble crochets on the right band (see Assembly 2 at the bottom of the pattern). Happy crocheting!

Hi, I am confused about the sleeves - do I crochet them in the round directly onto the armhole?
05.03.2025 - 13:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Furlong, sleeves are worked along the armhole: you start with a row chain-spaces (= 2 chain stitches, 1 double crochet (UK-terminology) around = 27-34 chain spaces; then crochet on next row 2 treble crochets around each chain space to get 54-68 treble crochets. Happy crocheting!

Hej!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: On every row with double crochets work 3 chain stitches at the beginning of row. These 3 chain stitches do not replace first double crochet but is worked in addition. CHAIN STITCHES: If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 double crochet is wide. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 double crochet by working the next 2 stitches together into 1 stitch follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, get yarn, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through the 2 first loops on hook *, repeat from *-* 2 times in total, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook (= 1 stitch decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked back and forth. Work front and back piece separately. Work top down and sew parts together. Pick up stitches for sleeves. Sew together mid under sleeves and down along body, and sew bands from each front piece together, seam = mid back, and sew band to stitches around the neck. RIGHT SHOULDER: Work 19-22-23-25-26-27 CHAIN STITCHES - read explanation above, on hook size 5 MM = US H/8 with DROPS Air. ROW 1 (= right side): READ CROCHET INFORMATION and work 3 chain stitches (do not replace first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch = 19-22-23-25-26-27 double crochets. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet = 19-22-23-25-26-27 double crochets. ROW 3 (= right side): Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet = 19-22-23-25-26-27 double crochets. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work 1 double crochet in each of the first 18-21-22-24-25-26 double crochets, work 2 double crochets in next double crochet = 20-23-24-26-27-28 double crochets. Put piece aside and work the left back piece. LEFT SHOULDER: Work 19-22-23-25-26-27 chain stitches. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work 2 double crochets in first double crochet, work 1 double crochet in each of the next 18-21-22-24-25-26 double crochets = 20-23-24-26-27-28 double crochets. On next row work both shoulders together into back piece. BACK PIECE: Continue with yarn from left shoulder and work over left shoulder from right side with 1 double crochet in every double crochet (= 20-23-24-26-27-28 double crochets), work 26-26-28-28-30-32 chain stitches, work over right shoulder from right side with 1 double crochet in every double crochet (= 20-23-24-26-27-28 double crochets). On next row work 1 double crochet in every double crochet / chain stitch = 66-72-76-80-84-88 double crochets. Work back and forth with double crochets until piece measures 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm = 7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½". Fasten off. Work 2-2-3-4-5-7 chain stitches, work 1 double crochet in each of the 66-72-76-80-84-88 double crochets from back piece (make sure that back piece is worked every other row from right side and wrong side), finish by working 2-2-3-4-5-7 chain stitches. Turn and work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch / double crochet = 70-76-82-88-94-102 double crochets. Work back and forth until piece measures 61-64-66-68-70-72 cm = 24"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜". LEFT FRONT PIECE: Begin to work a band like this: Work 7 chain stitches. ROW 1 (= right side): Remember CROCHET INFORMATION and work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch = 7 double crochets. ROW 2: Work 1 double crochet in back loop of every double crochet = 7 double crochets. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures approx. 9-9-10-10-11-11 cm = 3½"-3½"-4"-4"-4⅜"-4⅜" and next row is worked from right side. Work 1 double crochet in back loop of each of the 7 double crochets, work 19-22-23-25-26-27 chain stitches = 26-29-30-32-33-34 stitches. Turn and work 1 double crochet in each of the chain stitches (= 19-22-23-25-26-27 double crochets), finish with 1 double crochet in back loop of each of the last 7 double crochets (= band) = 26-29-30-32-33-34 double crochets. Insert 1 marker in the stitches cast on for shoulder, now measure piece from here. Now work back and forth with 1 double crochet in every double crochet over all stitches, but always work the band (= 7 double crochets) in back loop as before. Work back and forth until piece measures 11-12-12-13-13-13 cm = 4⅜"-4¾"-4¾"-5⅛"-5⅛"-5⅛" from marker, now increase for V-neck on every row (i.e. both from right side and wrong side) by working 2 double crochets in first double crochet inside band. Increase for V-neck like this on every row 14-14-15-15-16-17 times in total, AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm = 7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½" from marker, increase for armhole as follows: Work from right side as before the entire row, finish row by working 2-2-3-4-5-7 chain stitches. Then work 1 double crochet in each of the new chain stitches. When all increases for V-neck are done, piece measures approx. 27-28-30-31-32-33 cm = 10⅝"-11"-11¾"-12¼"-12½"-13" from marker and there are 42-45-48-51-54-58 double crochets on front piece. Work back and forth with 1 double crochet in every double crochet until piece measures 61-64-66-68-70-72 cm = 24"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜" from marker. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Begin to work a band like this: Work 7 chain stitches. Fasten off. Work 19-22-23-25-26-27 chain stitches, work over band from right side with 1 double crochet in the back loop of each of the 7 double crochets = 26-29-30-32-33-34 stitches. Turn and work 1 double crochet in back loop in each of the first 7 double crochets (= band), finish by working 1 double crochet in each of the chain stitches (= 19-22-23-25-26-27 double crochets) = 26-29-30-32-33-34 double crochets. Increase for V-neck like this on every row 14-14-15-15-16-17 times in total, AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm = 7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½" from marker, increase for armhole as follows: Work next row from right side. Cut the yarn and work 2-2-3-4-5-7 chain stitches, work over front piece as before from right side the rest of row. Work back and forth with 1 double crochet in every double crochet until piece measures 61-64-66-68-70-72 cm = 24"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜" from marker - make sure that right front piece is finished the same way as left front piece (i.e. from right side or wrong side). ASSEMBLY-1: Sew together the shoulders. SLEEVES: Now pick up chain spaces for sleeve. Begin by working 1 single crochet around outermost double crochet where there is a notch for armhole, work along the armhole as follows: * Work 2 chain stitches, 1 single crochet around outermost double crochet approx. 1½ cm = ½" from previous single crochet *, work from *-* 27-28-29-31-32-34 times evenly = 27-28-29-31-32-34 chain spaces. Turn and work 2 double crochets in every chain space = 54-56-58-62-64-68 double crochets. Work back and forth with 1 double crochet in every double crochet – remember CROCHET INFORMATION. When sleeve measures 4 cm = 1½", decrease 1 double crochet in each side as follows: Work 1 double crochet, work 2 double crochets together, work until 3 double crochets remain, work 2 double crochets together – read DECREASE TIP, finish with 1 double crochet. Decrease like this every 4-4-4-3-3-3 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛" 9-9-9-11-11-13 times in total = 36-38-40-40-42-42 double crochets. Work until sleeve measures approx. 49-49-48-48-47-47 cm = 19¼"-19¼"-19"-19"-18½"-18½" from shoulder. POCKETS: Work 21 chain stitches. Remember CROCHET INFORMATION, turn and work 1 double crochet in every double crochet = 21 double crochets. Work double crochets back and forth until pocket measures 12 cm = 4¾" - work last row from right side. Work the last 3 rows as follows: Work 1 double crochet in back loop of every double crochet. Pocket measures 15 cm = 6" in width and approx. 15 cm = 6" vertically. ASSEMBLY-2: Sew together in outermost double crochet mid under sleeves and down along body. Sew bands together (= mid back) and sew it to neck line at the back of neck. Sew 1 pocket on to each front piece approx. 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"-2¾" from bottom edge. Sew on button, sew top button approx. 1 cm = ⅜" under V-neck, place the remaining buttons evenly spaced down the band. Button between 2 double crochets. |
