Firebird Jumper With Detachable Collar wrote:
I really like this pattern but i find circular needles a problem, can this jumper be done on straight needles ? , sorry i am not an expert but i love to try. and can the same change be for other Knitting patterns. Thankyou for any help you give me Diana

Hi Firebird, We recommend circular needles because the jumper is worked in the round and there are a lot of stitches. But if you find straight needles easier, then using 5 of them (4 for the stitches and 1 to work with) is of course an option, both for this and other patterns. Happy knitting!

Passt der Pullover in Gr. S für Kleidergröße 36?
15.03.2015 - 18:09DROPS Design answered:

Bon tricot!

Knitted DROPS jumper with raglan and detachable collar in “Verdi”. Size: S - XXXL.
DROPS 150-48 |
|
GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. INCREASE TIP (applies to raglan): Beg 2 sts before marker: Make 1 YO, K 2 sts (marker is in the middle of these sts), make 1 YO. On next round work YOs twisted (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 st before marker as follows: Work until 2 sts remain before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso. Dec 1 st after marker as follows: K 2 tog. KNITTING TIP: If knitting gauge is incorrect in height and the knitting is too tight, the raglan dec will be too short and the armholes too small. This can be adjusted by working 1 extra row without dec evenly spaced between dec. ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER: Worked in the round, top down. YOKE: Very LOOSELY cast on 42-48-54-60-66-72 sts on circular needle size 8 mm / US 11 with Verdi. Work 2 RIDGES in garter st - see explanation above. Switch to circular needle size 9 mm / US 13 and work in stockinette st. Then work an elevation in the back of neck, beg mid back as follows: Insert 1 marker. Work 7-8-10-11-13-14 sts, turn, tighten yarn and work 14-16-20-22-26-28 sts, turn, tighten yarn and work 7-8-10-11-13-14 sts back. Turn and work 1 round (around the entire piece) until mid back again. Turn piece (= now work from RS). REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Now insert 4 new markers (for raglan) as follows: Work 7-8-10-11-13-14 sts from marker mid back, insert 1st marker here (at the same time remove the marker mid back), work 8 sts (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker, work 13-16-19-22-25-28 sts (= front piece) and insert 3rd marker, work 8 sts (= sleeve), insert 4th marker and work 6-8-9-11-12-14 sts until first marker again (there are 13-16-19-22-25-28 sts between marker on back piece). Inc 1 st on each side of all markers (= 8 inc per round). Inc on every other round: 10-11-12-13-14-15 times - see INCREASE TIP above = 122-136-150-164-178-192 sts. Work next round as follows: Slip the 28-30-32-34-36-38 sts between 1st and 2nd marker on 1 stitch holder, cast on 8 new sts over stitch holder, work until 3rd marker, slip the 28-30-32-34-36-38 sts between 3rd and 4th marker on 1 stitch holder, cast on 8 new sts over stitch holder, work until 1st marker again = 82-92-102-112-122-132 sts on needle. BODY: Insert 1 marker in each side (there should be 41-46-51-56-61-66 sts between markers). Now measure the piece from here. When piece measures 6 cm / 2½", inc 1 st on each side of markers in each side (= 4 sts inc), repeat inc every 11 cm / 4½" 3 times (= 4 inc total) = 98-108-118-128-138-148 sts. Work until piece measures 44-45-45-45-46-46 cm / 17¼"-17¾"-17¾"-17¾"-18"-18" from marker. Switch to circular needle size 8 mm / US 11 and work 2 ridges in garter st. Bind off. Piece measures 68-70-72-74-76-78 cm / 26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-30"-30¾" in length in total from shoulder and down. SLEEVE: Adjust so that color of the yarn matches with the color on body (beg with the same color on both sleeves). Slip sts from one stitch holder on double pointed needles size 9 mm / US 13 and pick up 1 st in each of the 8 new sts on body = 36-38-40-42-44-46 sts. Insert 1 marker mid under sleeve (i.e. in the middle of the 8 new sts). NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! When piece measures 4 cm / 1½", dec 1 st on each side of marker (= 2 sts dec) - see DECREASE TIP above. Dec every 16-11-8-14-10-8 cm / 6¼"-4½"-3"-5½"-4"-3" 2-3-4-2-3-4 more times (3-4-5-3-4-5 times in total) = 30-30-30-36-36-36 sts. When piece measures 48-48-47-45-45-44 cm / 19"-19"-18½"-17¾"-17¾"-17¼", switch to double pointed needles size 8 mm / US 11 and work 2 ridges in garter st. Bind off. DETACHABLE COLLAR: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 66-68-70-72-74-76 sts on circular needle size 9 mm / US 13 with 2 strands Verdi. Work in garter st with 1 strand Verdi until piece measures 44-45-46-47-48-49 cm / 17¼"-17¾"-18"-18½"-19"-19¼". Bind off with 2 strands Verdi. Piece measures approx. 45-46-47-48-49-50 cm / 17¾"-18"-18½"-19"-19¼"-19¾". |
