Probably the easiest way to decrease 1 stitch - knit 2 stitches together as one.
In the video we first knit 2 stitches together in the front loops, the dec leans right.
Then we knit 2 stitches twisted together, i.e. we knit them together in the back loops and the dec leans to the left.

Dear Rachel, you can cast off as follows if it seems clearer: cast off 3 stitches from the beginning of the row, then work as before until 3 stitches remain before the next marker (= side), cast off the next 6 stitches (= 3 sts from the front and 3 sts from the back), work until 3 sts remain in the round and cast off the next 3 sts. Dear Mrs Tezcanli, in this pattern, you should have 164 sts in size M and 176 sts in size L, this means: cast off 6 sts (starting 3 sts before the end of the round), work the next 76-82 sts (the first of them is already on the needle), cast off the next 6 sts and knit the last 76-82 sts (the first of them is already on the needle). De instructie is bij zowel het begin als eind van de naald "2 (eerste/laatste) steken samenbreien door rechternaald voor in beide steken in te steken en samenbreien". This dec with the abbreviations in title means that you decrease 1 stitch by first slipping a stitch, then knitting a stitch, then passing the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. When you decrease in purled stitches, you purl 2 sts together into 1 stitch. In our video we first show how to do this the continental style, and then US style.

How to turn 1 strand into 3 from the same ball of yarn

In this DROPS video we how to make 3 strands out of 1 single strand from a ball of yarn. 1. Make a simple loop (like the loop worked when you begin any crochet project) and pull it to approx. 2-3 cm = ¾"-1⅛" in length. 2. Thread the strand from the skein through this loop, creating a new loop of approx. 40-50 cm = 15¾"-19¾". 3. Lay this loop alongside the working strand, so 1 strand becomes 3 strands. 4. Knit or crochet using these 3 strands until there is approx. 2 cm = ¾" left. Repeat points 2 to 4.
