TOE: Work 1 round with 1 single crochet in every double crochet the entire round= 26-28-28 single crochets. Insert 1 marker thread in a single crochet in each side so that there are 12-13-13 single crochets on top of foot and 12-13-13 single crochets under foot. Question - Maybe it should be 13-14-14 single crochet? Thank you very much
14.03.2021 - 21:41DROPS Design answered:
Hi Olesya, If you minus the single crochets the markers are inserted in, then there are 24-26-26 single crochets left on the round and there will be 12-13-13 single crochets between each marker-stitch. Happy crocheting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH TIP: If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 single crochet/double crochet/treble crochet is wide. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 double crochet/single crochet as follows: Work 1 double crochet/single crochet but wait with last pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work next double single/single crochet but on last pull through, pull thread through all loops on hook = 1 double crochet/single crochet decreased. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work top down. SOCK: Read CHAIN STITCH TIP in explanation above! Work 42-44-47 chain stitches on hook size 5 mm = US H/8 with 1 strand of each color of Delight (= 2 strands) and form 1 ring by working 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Continue to work in the round as follows: ROUND 1: Work 3 chain stitches (= 1 double crochet), 1 double crochet in each of the first 1-3-1 chain stitches, * skip 1 chain stitch, 1 double crochet in each of the next 4 chain stitches *, work from *-* and finish with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round = 34-36-38 double crochets. ROUND 2: 3 chain stitches (= 1 double crochet), 1 double crochet in every double crochet the entire round, finish with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round = 34-36-38 double crochets. Work as 2ND ROUND, but when 8 rounds have been worked in total from beginning of piece, decrease 1 double crochet on each side of the first 3 chain stitches mid back - read DECREASE TIP! = 32-34-36 double crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! Continue to work double crochet and repeat decrease again on 18th round = 30-32-34 double crochets. Continue to work double crochets until 19-20-21 rounds have been worked in total, and piece measures approx. 21-22-23 cm = 8¼"-8¾"-9". Cut the yarn and pull it through the last stitch on hook. Now continue over the 16 double crochets mid back (= 8 double crochets at the end of round + 8 double crochets at the beginning of round) as described below. HEEL: Begin from wrong side by fastening strand with 1 slip stitch in 8th stitch from beginning of round, work 1 single crochet in same stitch and then work 1 single crochet in each of the next 15 double crochet = 16 heel stitches. Turn piece to right side. Now continue with single crochets, back and forth over heel stitches, AT THE SAME TIME decrease 1 single crochet - read DECREASE TIP - in each side on every row until 8 single crochets remain. Turn piece (work next row from right side). Insert 1 marker thread to be used to measure length of foot later. Work 1 single crochet in every single crochet, in addition work 2 new single crochets along the side of heel at the end of the row (= 10 single crochets). Continue as follows: Decrease 1 single crochet at the beginning of every row, and work 2 new single crochets along the heel at the end of every row. Continue like this until there are 16 single crochets left on row. All rows along edge of heel have been worked. Cut the yarn and pull it through the last stitch on hook. FOOT: Turn piece (work next row from right side). The beginning of round should be mid under foot, begin by fastening strand with 1 slip stitch in the middle of the 16 single crochets from heel. Then work 1 double crochet in each heel stitch, work 4 double crochets in transition between heel stitches and stitches from leg, work double crochets over the 14-16-18 double crochets from leg. Work 4 double crochets between stitches from leg and heel stitch in the other side, and work double crochets over the remaining heel stitches. = 38-40-42 double crochets. Insert a marker thread on each side of the 14-16-18 stitches mid on top of foot. Continue to work as follows: ROUND 1: Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and decrease 1-1-1 double crochet before first marker thread and 1-1-1 double crochet after second marker thread = 36-38-40 double crochets. ROUND 2 Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and decrease 1-1-1 double crochet before first marker thread and 1-1-1 double crochet after second marker thread = 34-36-38 double crochets. ROUND 3: Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and decrease 1-1-1 double crochet before first marker thread and 1-1-1 double crochet after second marker thread = 32-34-36 double crochets. ROUND 4: Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and decrease 1-1-1 double crochet before first marker thread and 1-1-1 double crochet after second marker thread = 30-32-34 double crochets. ROUND 5: Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and decrease 1-1-1 double crochet before first marker thread and 1-1-1 double crochet after second marker thread = 28-30-32 double crochets. ROUND 6: Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and decrease 1-1-2 double crochets before first marker thread and 1-1-2 double crochets after second marker thread = 26-28-28 double crochets. Continue with 1 double crochet in every double crochet until piece measures approx. 19-19-22 cm = 7½"-7½"-8¾" from marker thread on heel. TOE: Work 1 round with 1 single crochet in every double crochet the entire round= 26-28-28 single crochets. Insert 1 marker thread in a single crochet in each side so that there are 12-13-13 single crochets on top of foot and 12-13-13 single crochets under foot. Then work in the round with single crochets AT THE SAME TIME decrease 2 single crochets in each side of every other round as follows: Work until 1 single crochet remains before single crochet with marker thread, work 1 single crochet, but wait with last pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work single crochet with marker thread, but wait with last pull through (= 3 loops on hook), work 1 single crochet in next single crochet, but on last pull through pull yarn through all loops on hook - 2 single crochets have been decreased. Continue like this until decrease have been done 3-4-4 time in each side = 14-12-12 single crochets on round. Work 1 round with 1 single crochet in every single crochet. Cut the yarn. Place sock flat with marker threads in the side, and sew together stitch against stitch. Fasten the strands. Work 1 more sock the same way. |
