EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

-------------------------------------------------------

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.2.

COLOR PATTERN (applies to diagram A.2):
When changing colors at the beginning of a round, work the slip stitch at the end of the previous round with the new color.
When working with two colors on a round of double crochets, work as follows: Work the last double crochet with the first color, but wait with the last pull-through, change the color and work the last pull through with this color and then work the next double crochet.
When working with two colors lay the strand of the color not being worked over the stitches from the previous round. Work around the strand so that it is hidden and carried forward.

CROCHET INFORMATION:
At the beginning of each round of double crochets, replace the first double crochet with 3 chain stitches. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round.

CORNET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with 2 strands, bottom up.

CORNET:
Work 4 chain stitches with hook size 5.5 mm = US I/9 and 2 strands of red. Form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Then work in the round according to diagram A.1. When A.1 has been completed there are 21 double crochets on the round.
Continue working in the round as follows:
Work A.2a over the first double crochet, A.2b over the next 18 double crochets (= 3 repeats of 6 double crochets) and A.2c over the last 2 double crochets – read COLOR PATTERN and CROCHET INFORMATION! Each round shows how many double crochets there are when the round has been completed (i.e. the 2 increased double crochets on each round are drawn in the diagram). REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When the whole of A.2 has been worked there are 60 double crochets and a loop on the last round. Cut and fasten the strands. The piece measures approx. 28 cm = 11” (measured in middle of piece).

Diagram

All measurements in charts are in cm.

= Start here - this chain-stitch ring is described in the text. Continue from the symbol over the point on the circle and work towards the left
= The round begins with 3 chain stitches (= equivalent to 1 double crochet) and finishes with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round
= double crochet around chain-stitch ring
= double crochet in stitch
= 1 double crochet with 2 strands red
= 1 double crochet with 2 strands off-white
= 1 double crochet with1 strand red and 1 strand off-white (= 2 strands)
= 2 double crochets worked in 1 double crochet from previous round. At the beginning of the round use the same color as the color of the next double crochet and at the end of the round use the same color as the previous double crochet
= do not end the round with 1 slip stitch, but work 13 chain stitches (= loop). Continue with the last round and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round (= in the loop). Then work 10 single crochets around the loop (the 10 chain stitches left on the loop) and finish with 1 slip stitch in the first doublecrochet on the previous round. Cut and fasten strands.
