GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS.

INCREASE TIP:
Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. On next row round K YOs twisted, i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front to avoid holes.

BUTTONHOLES:
Dec for buttonholes on right band. Since the garment is worked top down dec at end of needle from RS. 1 buttonhole = K tog third and fourth st from edge and make 1 YO.
Dec for buttonholes when piece measures:
SIZE S/M: 1, 8 and 17 cm / ½, 3 and 6 3/4"
SIZE L/XL: 1, 8 and 17 cm / ½, 3 and 6 3/4"
SIZE XXL: 1, 9 and 19 cm / ½, 3½ and 7½"
SIZE XXXL: 1, 9 and 19 cm / ½, 3½ and 7½"
----------------------------------------------------------

PONCHO:
Worked back and forth on circular needle, top down.

Loosely cast on 144-151-158-161 sts with Brushed Alpaca Silk on circular needle size 5 mm / US 8. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above and inc 27-32-37-40 sts evenly on last row from RS (but not over the outermost 4 sts in each side) - READ INCREASE TIP! There are now 171-183-195-201 sts on needle. REMEMBER BUTTONHOLES! On next row work as follows (= RS): 4 band sts in garter st, A.1 (= 6 sts) until 5 sts remain (= 27-29-31-32 times), 1 st in stockinette st, 4 band sts in garter st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, work ridges for 4-4-5-5 cm / 1½"-1½"-2"-2" and inc 36-36-42-48 sts on last row from RS = 207-219-237-249 sts. Now work A.1 with 4 band sts in garter st in each side (work last st on band in stockinette st). When A.1 has been worked vertically, continue with ridges for 4-4-5-5 cm / 1½"-1½"-2"-2" and inc 36-42-42-42 sts on last row from RS = 243-261-279-291 sts. Now work A.1 with 4 band sts in garter st in each side (work last st on band in stockinette st). When A.1 has been worked vertically, continue with ridges for 4-4-5-5 cm / 1½"-1½"-2"-2" and inc 7-5-3-7 sts on last row from RS = 250-266-282-298 sts. Now work 0-2-0-2 rows in stockinette st with 4 band sts in garter st in each side. Then work pattern as follows: 4 band sts in garter st, A.2 (= 2 sts), A.3 (= 16 sts) 15-16-17-18 times in width, 4 band sts in garter st. When entire diagram has been worked vertically, work 0-2-0-2 rows in stockinette st with 4 band sts in garter st in each side. Then work 2 ridges over all sts. Loosely bind off. Make sure that the bind-off edge is not too tight.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the buttons on to the left band.

Diagram

All measurements in charts are in cm.

I noticed while knitting the Summer Stream that the design/pattern on the A2, A3 charts are not centered on the fabric. What could I be doing wrong? I started with A2, then continued across with A3 and ended up with 6 extra stitches at the end.

DROPS Design 22.02.2018 kl. 08:31:

Dear Mrs Evans, A.3 should be centered on piece, starting with 4 sts garter st, working A.2 and repeating A.3 to the last 4 sts - make sure you have the correct number of sts before: 250-266-282-298 sts (A.2 will allow to get a symetrical pattern on each side). Happy knitting!

Dear Marsha, did you start with the 4 garter stitches for the band? Then the 2 stitches of the A.2 pattern? The A.3 only comes after these 6 stitches. I hope this helps. Happy Knitting!

Bon tricot!

Linda 15.07.2017 - 05:21:

I've been knitting for 40 years but don't under stand these instructions: " work 0-2-0-2 rows in stockinette st" What are rows '0-2-0-2'? and how are they worked? Second: 'work 2 ridges over all sts': Can I make the Summer Stream left-fastening design using the front fastening 105-27 lace pattern? Any changes needed?

DROPS Design 15.07.2017 kl. 06:39:

Hi Linda, The numbers 0-2-0-2 refer to the 4 different sizes in the pattern, so if you are working size S/M you do not work any rows here, if you are working L/XL you work 2 rows stocking stitch and so on. Work 2 ridges over all stitches means 4 rows of garter stitch (2 ridges). 'All stitches' means a complete row. Happy knitting!

Anna 03.12.2016 - 17:56:

Hello! There is an error in the Hungarian translation of this pattern. At the first increase of the S sized poncho there are 27sts, not 127 sts. Happy knitting and happy holidays! Anna

DROPS Design 05.12.2016 kl. 11:08:

Dear Anna, thank you for bringing it to our attention. The error was corrected.

Cláudia Maia Costa 19.10.2016 - 02:04:

I made this model and it's absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much!

Victoria 15.10.2016 - 15:00:

Hej!

Weiter so !
