GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

PATTERN:
ROW/ROUND 1 (= WS): * P 1, K 1 *, repeat from *-*.
ROW/ROUND 2 (RS): K all sts.
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 52-54 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm / US 11 with Eskimo. Work PATTERN – see explanation above – until piece measures 18-19 cm / 7"-7½". REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Now continue piece in stockinette st. Now dec as follows:
ROUND 1: * K 11-7, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 48 sts (= 4-6 dec sts).
ROUND 2 (and then on every even numbered round): K all sts.
ROUND 3: * K 4, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 40 sts (= 8 dec sts).
ROUND 5: * K 3, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 32 sts.
ROUND 7: * K 2, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 sts.
ROUND 9: * K 1, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 16 sts.
ROUND 11: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 8 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
----------------------------------------------------------

NECK WARMER:
Worked back and forth on needle. Loosely cast on 25 sts on needle size 8 mm / US 11 with Eskimo. Work as follows from WS: 2 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, PATTERN – see explanation above – until 3 sts remain, P 1, finish with 2 sts in garter st. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Continue like this until piece measures 70 cm / 27½''. Bind off.

ASSEMBLY:
Fasten bind-off edge on right long side with invisible grafting/kitchener sts (opposite side now forms a tip).

I was wondering about knitting the hat on two straight needles instead of in the round. How many stitches would I need to knit this with Andes yarn? Thank you! You have an amazing website for free patterns!

DROPS Design 31.10.2016 kl. 10:24:

Dear Regina, you will find here some tips to adjust the pattern on straight needles. Read how to calculate new amount of yarn. Happy knitting!

Pouvez-vous me guider? merci Cordialement

DROPS Design 03.12.2014 kl. 09:52:

Bon tricot!

Just finished this hat and neck warmer using Cloud... And am delighted with both yarn and finished articles. Cloud is so soft and light, and not scratchy. Great addition to your collection of yarns. Hope you will be designing specifically for Cloud and increasing the range of shades. Thank you again Drops.

Nicole Grund 25.09.2014 - 17:56:

Vielleicht 122-39?
