GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

PICOT EDGE (back and forth on needle):
ROW 1 (= RS): K all sts.
ROW 2 (= WS): K all sts.
ROW 3 (= RS): K until 4 sts remain, work these sts as follows: K 2 tog, 1 YO, K 2 sts in each of the last 2 sts = 2 new sts on row.
ROW 4 (= WS): Slip 1st st as if to K, K 1, psso, K 1 and slip the last st on right needle over the foremost st, 2 sts dec - then K the remaining sts. Repeat rows 1 to 4.
----------------------------------------------------------

SLIPPER:
Worked back and forth on needle.

FOLDING EDGE:
Cast on 16-16-16-18 (18-20) sts on needles size 4 mm / US 6 with Karisma. Insert 1 marker inside the last 4 sts on row in left side of piece (seen from RS).
Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above, AT THE SAME TIME work PICOT EDGE over the last 4 sts - see explanation above.
When 28-30-32-34 (38-42) ridges have been worked in total (i.e. 56-60-64-68 (76-84) rows, piece measures approx. 13-14-15-16 (18-20) cm / 5"-5½"-6"-6 1/4" (7"-8")), bind off.

FOOT:
Pick up 1 st in every ridge along the long side without picot edge = 28-30-32-34 (38-42) sts.
Work in garter st back and forth for 2½-3-3½-4 (5-6) cm / 7/8"-1"-1 1/4"-1½" (2"-2½"), last row = from WS. Cut the yarn.

Slip the outermost 11-11-12-12 (13-14) sts in each side on 1 stitch holder = 6-8-8-10 (12-14) sts remain on needle (= mid on top of foot). Work 6-8-8-10 (12-14) ridges back and forth over the middle sts (= 12-16-16-20 (24-28) rows and approx. 3-4-4-5 (6-7) cm / 1"-1½"-1½"-2" (2½"-2 3/4") in garter st). Cut the yarn.

Work next row as follows from RS: Work the 11-11-12-12 (13-14) sts from stitch holder in first side of piece, pick up 1 st in every ridge along the side of mid piece (= 6-8-8-10 (12-14) sts), work the 6-8-8-10 (12-14) sts at the front of foot, pick up 1 st in every ridge along the other side of mid piece (= 6-8-8-10 (12-14) sts and work the 11-11-12-12 (13-14) sts from the last stitch holder = 40-46-48-54 (62-70) sts. K 1 row from WS.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the middle 6-8-8-10 (12-14) sts at the front. Then work in garter st back and forth AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row inc 1 st inside the 2 markers so that there are 8-10-10-12 (14-16) sts mid front = 42-48-50-56 (64-72) sts on needle.
When 2½-3-3½-4 (5-6) cm / 7/8"-3"-3 1/4"-1½" (2"-2½") have been worked from markers at the front, continue like this:
ROW 1 (= RS): K 3, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K 10-12-13-15 (18-24) sts, K 3 tog, K 4-6-6-8 (10-12), slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K until 6 sts remain on row, K 3 tog and finish with K 3 (= 8 sts dec, 34-40-42-48 (56-64) sts on needle).
ROW 2 (= WS): K all sts.
ROW 3 (= RS): K 2, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K 8-10-11-13 (16-19) sts, K 3 tog, K 2-4-4-6 (8-10), slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K until 5 sts remain on row, K 3 tog and finish with K 2 (= 8 sts dec, 26-32-34-40 (48-56) sts on needle).
ROW 4 (= WS): K all sts.
ROW 5 (= RS): K 1, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K 6-8-9-11 (14-17) sts, K 3 tog, K 0-2-2-4 (6-8), slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K until 4 sts remain on row, K 3 tog and finish with K 1 (= 8 sts dec, 18-24-26-32 (40-48) sts on needle).
ROW 6 (= WS): K all sts.
Stop here in size 0/1 + 1/3 + 6/9 months.

SIZE 12/18 months + 2 years + 3/4 years:
ROW 7 (= RS): Slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K 9 (12-15) sts, K 3 tog, K 2 (4-6), slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K until 3 sts remain on row, K 3 tog (= 8 sts dec, 24 (32-40) sts on needle).

Basia Scott 25.07.2015 - 10:53:

I have carefully read this pattern before starting the project. I do not understand this instruction. It reads as though one were to create the picot edge over only 4 st. which does not make sense. Please explain. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above, AT THE SAME TIME work PICOT EDGE over the last 4 sts Would one not make the picot edge over all of the stitches? I am really anxious to start the booties so I look forward to hearing from one of your helpers. Many thanks.

DROPS Design 27.07.2015 kl. 17:33:

Dear Mrs Sott, the videos below show you how to work the slippers and how to sew them together. Happy knitting!

En Français svp

Suzanne Boudreau 03.02.2015 - 20:46:

DROPS Design 10.12.2014 kl. 12:49:

Hei Cecilie. Ja, de 2 p rett gaelder alle str.

Gabriele Burris 12.11.2014 - 07:58:

2nd line under "Foot", some of the inch dimensions are wrong. Work in garter st back and forth for 2½-3-3½-4 (5-6) cm / 7/8"-3"-3 1/4"-1½" (2"-2½"), last row = from WS. Cut the yarn. It should read: Work in garter st back and forth for 2½-3-3½-4 (5-6) cm / 7/8"-1"-1 1/4"-1½" (2"-2½"), last row = from WS. Cut the yarn.

DROPS Design 12.11.2014 kl. 10:14:

Dear Mrs Burris, you are correct, pattern will be edited as soon as possible, thank you ! Happy knitting!

Anna Roest 11.11.2014 - 19:11:

Teresa Chinnock 07.11.2014 - 02:43:

This booties pattern is absolutely adorable and so easy to knit in an evening! This was my 1st time ever knitting booties so you don't need to be an expert to knit them! They are so cute and they stay on baby's feet real good!
