Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagram shows all rows in pattern seen from RS.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

INCREASE TIP:
Inc 1 st on each side of the middle 13 sts by making 1 YO, on next row work the YOs twisted (i.e. in back loop of st) to avoid holes. Work the inc sts in stockinette st.
--------------------------------------------------------

SLIPPER:
Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid back, beg at the top and work downwards.
Cast on 49-53-57 sts on needles size 4.5 mm / US 7 with 1 thread Big Fabel og 2 threads Fabel.
Work 4 ridges in garter st over all sts - see explanation above!
Then work as follows from RS: 1 st in garter st, 17-19-21 sts in stockinette st, A.1 (= 13 sts), 17-19-21 sts in stockinette st, 1 st in garter st.
Continue this pattern - AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row, inc 1 st on each side of the middle 13 sts – see INCREASE TIP!
Repeat inc on every row (i.e. from both RS and WS) a total of 15-17-20 times = 79-87-97 sts.
Work 1 row after last inc.
Now piece measures approx. 9-10-11 cm / 3½"-4"-4½". Continue in garter st over all sts - AT THE SAME TIME after 3 ridges, bind off 1 st at beg of the next 6 rows (i.e. 3 sts bind off in each side) = 73-81-91 sts.
When 6 ridges in total have been worked, loosely bind off.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew seam under foot and up along mid back - sew edge to edge to avoid a chunky seam under the foot.

Make another slipper.

Magda Rosario 12.08.2016 - 02:25:

Also, how many times do I repeat the A1 diagram?

DROPS Design 14.08.2016 kl. 12:06:

Dear Magda, you only repeat it once.

Magda Rosario 12.08.2016 - 02:18:

When do I start increasing? The instructions indicate to increase on the rs and ws, when do I do that? Are these increases for the sides of the slipped? And where do I increase? Thank you for your help.

DROPS Design 14.08.2016 kl. 12:10:

Dear Magda, you start increasing in the first row. The increases are for the sides of the slippers and you have to increase before and after working A1 on each side.

Eva Jansson 09.03.2016 - 21:40:

Tatiana 08.12.2014 - 17:34:

And YO between 2 sts from the diagram, how it must be done from the WS? As knit or purl? If purl, so I do not have the last knit st.

DROPS Design 09.12.2014 kl. 08:58:

Dear Tatiana, the YO between 2 sts in diagram will be purled on next row (in front of loop to make hole), only YO's made for increase are worked into back of loop. Happy Knitting!

Tatiana 07.12.2014 - 21:12:

Could you please tell me, the 1st row, after 4 ridges in garter st, should be such: 1 st in garter st, 17-19-21 sts in stockinette st, YO , A.1 (= 13 sts), YO, 17-19-21 sts in stockinette st, 1 st in garter st. ? This is the RS, yes? And next row after this, WS, should be such: 1st knit, 17-19-21 sts purl, YO twisted, A.1 ( 3 sts knit, 7 sts purl, 3 sts knit), YO twisted, 17-19-21 sts purl, 1 st knit? And could I find video about YO twisted? Thank you in advance!

DROPS Design 08.12.2014 kl. 09:21:

Dear Tatiana, that's exactly how you will have to work - see below how to inc with a YO and work it twisted (into back of loop) on next row. Happy knitting!

Mary 14.09.2014 - 15:22:

Something is not right with this pattern, the increased stitches on the right side are nullified by the 2 decreases in the panel, thus doubling the number of rows to reach the end.

DROPS Design 15.09.2014 kl. 10:07:

Dear Mary, the number of sts in diagram is always the same (dec are compensated by YO's), you first inc each side of the middle 13 sts (i.e. before these 13 sts and after these 13 sts) a total of 15-17-20 times (see size), then when piece measures 9-10-11 cm, work in garter st casting off 1 st at beg of the next 6 rows. Happy knitting!
