Mvh DROPS Design

When you reach 92 stitches and have marked for armhole, do you stop increasing. It says continue as before. I thought I stopped increasing but am second guessing myself
25.01.2020 - 21:04DROPS Design answered:
Dear Janet, if you reached the correct number of stitches before marking armholes, then just continue as before = in stocking stitch. If your increases are not done, continue to increase as before after having marked armholes. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

How many balls of wool to make the smallest size?
28.07.2017 - 21:34DROPS Design answered:
Dear Melanie, the original sweater in the picture was made from DROPS Verdi yarn, which came in big, 350 gramm balls, so, if you can get that somehow, one ball would be enough. However, the yarn is discontinued, and not produced anymore. You can substitute it with DROPS Melody yarn, from which you would need about 9-10 balls. Or you can use Brushed Alpaca Silk yarn held together with Delight, to get the stripey efefct of some of the Verdi colors. You can see the example for that here. I hope this helps. Happy Knitting!

Would you explain this section of the pattern? "When piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm / 24¾''-25½''-26 3/8''-27 1/8''-28''-28¾'', continue in garter st until finished measurements - ". How long should one continue in garter stitch at this point? What is meant by "...until finished measurements?
12.09.2014 - 14:18DROPS Design answered:
Dear Teresa, when piece measures 63-73 cm (see size), you continue working in garter st until you cast off all sts, ie when piece measures 65-75 cm. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st from RS by making 1 YO inside 1 edge st. On next row P YO twisted (i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes. -------------------------------------------------------- BACK PIECE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 66-70-74-82-90-98 sts (includes 1 edge st in each side) on circular needle size 6 mm / US 10 with Verdi. Work 6 rows in Garter st - See explanation above. Then work in stockinette st. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 4-5-5-8-12-24 cm / 1½"-2"-2"-3⅛"-4¾"-9½", inc 1 st in each side - READ INCREASE TIP. READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Repeat the inc in each side every 4½-5-5½-8-12-24 cm / 1½"-2"-2¼"-3⅛"-4¾"-9½" a total of 13-12-11-8-5-2 times. When all inc are done there are 92-94-96-98-100-102 sts on needle. NOTE: When piece measures 48-50-51-52-53-55 cm / 19"-19¾"-20"-20½"-21"-21⅝", insert a marker in each side to mark where armhole starts. Continue with inc in each side as before. When piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm / 24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾", continue in garter st until finished measurements - AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row in garter st, bind off the middle 26-26-28-28-30-30 sts for neck. Now finish each part separately. Bind off 2 sts on beg on next row from neck = 31-32-32-33-33-34 sts remain on the shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 65-67-69-71-73-75 cm / 25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾"-29½". FRONT PIECE: Work as on back piece until piece measures 57-59-61-63-65-67 cm / 22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½"-26⅜". Now bind off the middle 24-24-26-26-28-28 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Bind off at the beg of every row from neck as follows: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 time = 31-32-32-33-33-34 sts remain on shoulder. When piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm / 24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾", continue in garter st until finished measurements. Bind off when piece measures 65-67-69-71-73-75 cm / 25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾"-29½". SLEEVE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 34-36-38-38-40-40 sts (includes 1 edge st in each side) on circular needle size 6 mm / US 10 with Verdi. Work 6 rows in garter st, then work in stockinette st. When piece measures 5-5-5-5-5-4 cm / 2"-2"-2"-2"-2"-1½", inc 1 st in each side. Repeat inc every 5½-5½-5½-5-5-4½ cm / 2¼" -2¼"–2¼"-2"-2"-1¾" a total of 7-7-7-8-8-9 times = 48-50-52-54-56-58 sts. Loosely bind off when piece measures 45 cm / 17¾" in all sizes. Knit another sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew side seams up to marker. Sew sleeves tog inside 1 edge st and sew sleeves in. NECKLINE: Knit up approx. 72 to 80 sts around the neck on double pointed needles size 6 mm / US 10. Work in the round as follows: * K 1 round, P 1 round *, repeat from *-* for approx. 2 cm / ¾", loosely bind off all sts. |
