So I knitted the 4 rows or garter, then I do the first row as explained (5th row). The little square of pattern shows 5 rows and 5 st. Where is the 5th row from above shown in the the pattern? Its very confusing! Why can't we write out the pattern if it is only 5 rows and have a diagram extra.
17.02.2019 - 21:58DROPS Design answered:
Hi Petra, The diagram M.1 has 4 rows. All rows, apart from row 3 are knitted from right side and purled from wrong side. On row 3 you work as follows (from right side and reading left): K2 together, 1 yarn over, K1, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over. In the text each M.1 is separated by purl 3. I hope this helps and happy knitting!

If i got it right the ws goes 5garter,k3,purl the k2 and yover, reverse and etc?
13.05.2014 - 17:14DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Eirini, from WS, you will have K5 (garter st), then K3 (= P3 from RS), then P the sts from M.1 as shown in diagram, work then the next sts knitwise (= reverse stockinette seen from RS = P from RS, K from WS). Happy knitting!

PATTERN: See diagram M.1 (= 5 sts). The diagram shows the pattern from RS. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. -------------------------------------------------------- VEST: The garment is knitted back and forth on circular needle because of no of sts. Cast on 156-158-172-172-174-174 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 with Bomull-Lin. K 4 rows, then work as follows from RS: 5 sts in GARTER ST - see explanation above, * P 3, M.1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 5-5-6-6-6-6 times, 34-36-34-34-36-36 sts in reverse stockinette st, * M.1, P 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 9-9-10-10-10-10 times, finish with 5 sts in garter st. Continue like this. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 33-35-37-39-41-43 cm / 13"-13¾"-14½"-15¼"-16⅛"-17", work next row from RS as follows: 5 sts in garter st, * P 3, M.1 * repeat from *-* a total of 5-5-6-6-6-6 times, 34-36-34-34-36-36 sts in reverse stockinette st (i.e WS out), M.1, P 3, M.1, 35-35-43-43-43-43 sts in garter st, * M.1, P 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with 5 sts in garter st. Work a total of 4 rows this way. Next row from RS is worked as before while AT THE SAME TIME casting/binding off the middle 29-29-37-37-37-37 sts of the 35-35-43-43-43-43 sts in garter st for armhole. On next row cast on 29-29-37-37-37-37 new sts over the bind off sts. Work as follows from RS: 5 sts in garter st, * P 3, M.1 * repeat from *-* a total of 5-5-6-6-6-6 times, 34-36-34-34-36-36 sts in reverse stockinette st, M.1, P 3, M.1, 35-35-43-43-43-43 sts in garter st, * M.1, P 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with 5 sts in garter st. Work a total of 4 rows like this, then work as follows from RS: 5 sts in garter st, * P 3, M.1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 5-5-6-6-6-6 times, 34-36-34-34-36-36 sts in reverse stockinette st, * M.1, P 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 9-9-10-10-10-10 times, finish with 5 sts in garter st. Continue to work like this until piece measures 73-79-85-92-100-108 cm / 28¾"-31"-33½"-36¼"-39⅜"-42½". Now work and bind off in the same way as with previous armhole. Continue to work as follows from RS: 5 sts in garter st, * P 3, M.1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 5-5-6-6-6-6 times, 34-36-34-34-36-36 sts in reverse stockinette st, * M.1, P 3 *, repeat from *-* a total of 9-9-10-10-10-10 times, finish with 5 sts in garter st. Continue this pattern until piece measures 107-115-123-132-142-152 cm / 42"-45¼"-48½"-52"-55¾"-59¾" (adjust so that the length from armhole and out to the edge is the same on each side of piece), K 4 rows over all sts, then bind off. The piece measures approx. 108-116-124-133-143-153 cm / 45½"-45¾"-48¾"-52⅜"-56⅛"-60⅛", measured from side to side. The vest can be worn from both sides. Therefore fasten the yarn ends neatly, seen from both sides. |
