Gauge: 15 sts with Vivaldi and dropped sts = approx. 20 cm in width.

Tips: If you wish a tighter and thicker fabric, use Vienna instead of Vivaldi. You will need 450 gr of Vienna.

Row 1 (= right side): knit all sts.
Row 2 (= wrong side): knit all sts.
Row 3: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * 3 yo, K 1 *, repeat * - * and finish with 3 yo and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st)
Row 4: knit all sts, letting yos from previous row drop (= dropped sts)

Measuring tips: Make all measurements when the piece is held up.

Poncho: The poncho is knit in 2 pieces and sewn together at shoulders.
Front: Cast on 78-94 sts around 2 needles (so that the cast-on edge will be elastic). Pull out one needle and knit 2 rows garter st. Then knit Pattern – see instructions above.
When the piece measures approx. 20 cm fasten fringe tufts so that the weight will be correct for length measurements.

Fringe: 1 fringe tuft = 2 strands Eskimo and 2 strands Vivaldi approx. 62 cm long. Fold strands in half and pull through sts of cast-on edge and pull ends through loops. Fasten 1 fringe tuft at each side and space fringe tufts between them approx. 3 cm apart.

When the piece measures approx. 64-72 cm (ending after the 1st 2 rows of pattern) – see Measuring tips – put the 16 center sts on a st holder for the neck. Then knit rows 3 and 4, then knit 4 rows garter st and bind off all sts loosely, the piece measures approx. 70-78 cm.

Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. When the piece measures approx. 68-76 cm (ending after 4th row of pattern) – knit 4 rows garter st and at the same time put the center 16 sts on a st holder for the neck after the 2nd row.
Bind off loosely, the piece measures approx. 70-78 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.

Collar: Pick up approx. 42-48 sts (divisible by 6) (incl. sts on st holders) on double-pointed needles with Eskimo. Join and place a marker at the join. K 1 row, P 1 row. Then knit rib as follows: * K 3, P 3 *, repeat * - * until the collar measures 12-14 cm. Bind off.
