(100% cotton) 50 g./76 yards
700 (750, 800) g. Col. 07, olive

Alternative yarn:
* DROPS VIENNA, 90% mohair, 10% polyester) 50 g./103 yards. 500 (550, 500) g col. 51, olive
Note: When knitting with Vienna:
Use 6 mm [US 10] needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.
The row gauge will differ. This affects increases, decreases and binding off as follows:
"Alternately every 4th row and every 5th row» is changed to «every other row and every 3rd row"
«every 4th row" is changed to "alternately every 2nd and every 3rd row"
"every 6th row" is changed to "alternately every 3rd and every 4th row"

DROPS 3.5 mm [US 4] and 4 mm [US 6] circular and double pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Gauge:
Cotton Chenille: 14 sts x 26 rows on larger needles in stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].
Vienna: 14 sts x 16 rows on larger needles in
stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Double Seed st (on an even number of sts):
1st row: k 1, p 1
2nd row: k 1, p 1
3rd row: p 1, k 1
4th row: p 1, k 1

Buttonholes: When the work measures 1 cm [3/8"], 9.5 (10-10.5) cm [3.75" (4" - 4-1/8")], 18 (19-20) cm [7" (7.5" - 7-7/8")], 26.5 (28-29.5) cm [10.5" (11" - 11-5/8")], 35 (37-39) cm [13.75" (14.5" - 15.25")] and 43.5 (46-48.5) cm [17-1/8" (18-1/8" - 19")], make buttonholes on the right front as follows: Bind off the 3rd and 4th sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row.

Pattern: See chart. (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side.

Body: Work back and forth on circular needle.
Cast on 182 (192-202) sts on smaller circular needles.
Knit double seed stitch for 4 cm [1.5"]. Change to larger circular needles and establish pattern as follows: 6 sts double seed stitch (buttonband), Pattern 1, 94 (104-114) sts of Pattern 3, Pattern 1, 6 sts double seed stitch (buttonband). Knit in pattern as established until the work measures 30 (34-36) cm [11.75" (13-3/8" - 14-1/8")], then knit Pattern 2 once, then Pattern 3 to finished dimensions. Keep the 6 sts at each side edge (the center front) in double seed stitch. At the same time, when the work measures 37 (41-42) cm [14.5" (16-1/8" - 16.5")], knit the next row as follows: 49 (52-54) sts for the front, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 76 (80-86) sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 49 (52-54) sts for the front. Knit the rest of each part separately.

Front: = 49 (52-54) sts. Then bind off for armholes on every other row: 2 sts 1 (1-3) times, 1 st 2 (3-2) times = 45 (47-46) sts. When the work measures 54 (58-60) cm [21.25" (22-7/8" - 23-5/8")], bind off at the center front for the neck every other row: 12 (14-13) sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 3 times, then every 4th row: 1 st 2 times. Bind off when the work measures 64 (68-70) cm [25.25" (26.75" - 27-5/8")].

Back: = 76 (80-86) sts. Bind off for armholes as on the front = 68 (70-70) sts. When the work measures 62 (66-68) cm [24-3/8" (26" - 26.75")], bind off the center 16 (18-18) sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 64 (68-70) cm [25.25" (26.75" - 27-5/8")].

Sleeves: Work back and forth on circular needle.
Cast on 36 (36-36) sts on smaller needles and knit double seed stitch for 5 cm [2"]. Change to larger needles and knit Pattern 3. After the seed stitch border, inc 1 st each side 20 (20-22) times:
Sizes S+M: alternately every 4th and every 5th row
Size L: every 4th row
= 76 (76-80) sts. When the work measures 45 (44-43) cm [17.75" (17.25" - 16-7/8")], bind off at each side for sleeve caps on every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 3 (3-2) sts 8 (9-12) times, bind off. The work measures approx. 52 (52-53) cm [20.5" (20.5" - 20-7/8")].

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 62-70 sts around the neck (but not over the buttonband) from the wrong side on smaller needles and knit double seed stitch for 8 cm [3-1/8"], increasing 2 sts directly on top of each shoulder every 6th row. Bind off. Sew sleeve seam and sew on the sleeves and the buttons.
