EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.3.
CHAIN STITCH:
If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double crochet is wide.
CROCHET INFORMATION:
At the beginning of each round of double crochets work 3 chain stitches, which replace the first double crochet. The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the third chain stitch at the beginning of the round.
CROCHET TIP (for bag, not for flounces):
ROUND 1: Work from the right side, turn at end of the round.
ROUND 2: Work from the wrong side, turn at end of the round.
Repeat ROUNDS 1 and 2, working alternately from the right and wrong side.

BAG ¬- SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round, bottom up. 2 flounces and the strap are worked to finish.
BAG:
Work 22 CHAIN STITCHES – read description above, using hook size 3.5 MM = US E/4 and DROPS Cotton Light.
ROUND 1: Read CROCHET INFORMATION and PATTERN and work both sides of the chain-stitch row as follows: Work A.1 in the first chain stitch, 1 double crochet in each of the next 20 chain stitches, A.1 in the next chain stitch, turn and continue on the other side of the row of chain stitches: Work A.1 in the same chain stitch as A.1 on the first side, 1 double crochet in each of the next 20 chain stitches and A.1 in the same chain stitch as A.1 on the first side = 48 double crochets and 4 chain-spaces on the round.
ROUNDS 2-5: Read CROCHET TIP. Continue with A.1 and double crochets in each stitch. After round 5 there are 120 double crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE!
ROUNDS 6-8: Remember CROCHET TIP and work 1 double crochet in each double crochet.
When round 8 is finished, work A.2 back and forth over all stitches. Repeat A.2 in height until the piece measures 25 cm = 9 3/4" – measured from the chain-stitch row (= approx. 25 rounds).
Continue with 1 double crochet in each stitch until the bag measures 39 cm = 15 1/4" - measured from the chain-stitch row – finish after a round from the right side (= approx. 39 rounds). Cut and fasten the strand.
FLOUNCES:
Work a flounce in round 3 from the top, starting from the right side as follows (do not turn when working the flounces):
ROUND 1: Work 1 single crochet around the first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, 1 single crochet around the next stitch *, work from *-* to the end of the round, finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet.
ROUNDS 2-3: Remember CROCHET INFORMATION and work A.3 in the round.
When A.3 is finished, cut the strand and pull it through the last stitch. Fasten the strand.
Work another flounce in the 6th round from the top.
STRAP:
Work 8 chain stitches with hook size 3.5 MM = US E/4 and DROPS Cotton Light. Work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain stitch from the hook, then 1 double crochet in each of the other 4 chain stitches = 6 stitches. Work double crochets back and forth for approx. 60 cm = 23 5/8" (first double crochet on each row is replaced by 3 chain stitches). Cut the strand and sew the strap to each side of the bag.
