The needle size in the pattern above and for the group A yarn is different. Here for the kid-silk yarn a 5.5 mm is suggested; in the yarn group A, which is the group for the kid-silk, a sz 3/3.5 is suggested. Please let me know which sz is correct? Thank you.
16.01.2023 - 12:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Carvalho, correct, but here you are working with 2 strands Kid-Silk (= with double yarn), so that you get a tension of a yarn group C, and you should get 16 sts x 20 rows stockinette with 2 strands = 10 x10 cm. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5 (diagrams A.3 and A.4 apply to sizes XL, XXL and XXXL). INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase/decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 76 stitches) and divide by the number of increases/decreases to be made (e.g. 4) = 19. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 19th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. When decreasing, knit each 18th and 19th stitch together. INCREASE TIP 1 (for sides of body): Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread sits between these 4 stitches) make 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as casting off and the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. NECK: Cast on 76-76-80-84-88-92 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and 2 strands Kid-Silk. Knit 1 round then work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm. When the rib is finished knit 1 round where you increase 0-4-8-8-12-16 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 76-80-88-92-100-108 stitches. Change to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Insert 1 marker after the rib, mid back; the yoke will be measured from this marker! YOKE: Work stocking stitch in the round. When the piece measures 3 cm in all sizes, work pattern according to the diagrams and increase as follows: INCREASE 1: Work A.1 (= 4 stitches) a total of 19-20-22-23-25-27 times on the round. When A.1 has been completed there are 114-120-132-138-150-162 stitches on the round. Knit 1 round where the number of stitches is adjusted to 115-120-135-140-150-165 stitches (i.e. in sizes S, L, XL, XXXL increase 1-3-2-3 stitches, in sizes M and XXL the number of stitches stays the same) – remember INCREASE/DECREASE TIP and REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 7-8-9-9-9-10 cm increase as follows: INCREASE 2: Work A.2 (= 5 stitches) a total of 23-24-27-28-30-33 times on the round. When A.2 has been completed there are 161-168-189-196-210-231 stitches on the round. Knit 1 round where the number of stitches is adjusted to 160-170-190-198-210-234 stitches (i.e., in size S decrease 1 stitch, in sizes M, L, XL and XXXL increase 2-1-2-3 stitches and in size XXL the number of stitches stays the same). Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 11-13-15-15-15-17 cm, work in the different sizes as follows: SIZES S, M and L: INCREASE 3: Work A.2 (= 5 stitches) a total of 32-34-38 times on the round. When A.2 has been completed there are 224-238-266 stitches on the round. Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 15-18-21 cm, work as follows: A.5 (= 7 stitches) a total of 32-34-38 times on the round. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 18-20-22 cm. Continue as described below. SIZES XL, XXL and XXXL: INCREASE 3: Work A.3 (= 6 stitches) a total of 33-35-39 times on the round. When A.3 has been completed there are 264-280-312 stitches on the round. Knit 1 round where the number of stitches is adjusted to 266-280-315 stitches (i.e. in sizes XL and XXXL increase 2-3 stitches and in size XXL the number of stitches stays the same). Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 21-21-24 cm, work as follows: INCREASE 4: Work * 3-2-3 repeats of A.5, 1 repeat of A.4 *, work from *-* 9-13-11 times, then finish the round in the different sizes as described below: Size XL: Finish the round with A.5 over the last 14 stitches (= 2 repeats). Size XXL: Finish the round with A.4 over the last 7 stitches (= 1 repeat). Size XXXL: Finish the round with A.5 over the last 7 stitches (= 1 repeat). When A.4 and A.5 have been completed there are 284-308-337 stitches on the round. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 24-26-28 cm. Continue as described below. ALL SIZES: Now divide the yoke for the body and sleeves on the next round as follows: Work the first 32-34-38-41-45-49 stitches (= half back piece), place the next 48-50-57-59-64-70 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-8-8-8-8-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the next 64-69-76-83-90-99 stitches (= front piece), place the next 48-50-57-59-64-70 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-8-8-8-8-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the last 32-35-38-42-45-49 stitches (= half back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE. BODY: = 140-154-168-182-196-217 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each side of the body, with 70-77-84-91-98-109 stitches between marker threads on the front piece and 70-77-84-91-98-108 stitches between marker threads on the back piece. Allow the threads to follow your work onwards; they will be used when increasing in the sides. Continue in the round with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 1-3-5-3-1-3 cm (the piece measures approx. 4-5-6-6-6-7 cm from the last lace pattern on the yoke) work pattern A.5 on the round. When the piece measures 6 cm increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 9 cm a total of 3 times = 152-166-180-194-208-229 stitches. When the piece measures 29 cm from the division, knit 1 round where you increase 24-26-28-30-32-35 stitches evenly spaced = 176-192-208-224-240-264 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm, then cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP. The jumper measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 48-50-57-59-64-70 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles/short circular needle size 5.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-8-8-8-8-10 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 54-58-65-67-72-80 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-8-8-8-8-10 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start the round at the marker thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 1-3-5-3-1-3 cm (the piece measures approx. 4-5-6-6-6-7 cm from the last lace pattern on the yoke) work pattern as follows: Knit 2-1-1-2-1-1, work A.5 until there are 3-1-1-2-1-2 stitches left on the round (= 7-8-9-9-10-11 repeats) and finish with knit 3-1-1-2-1-2. When the piece measures 6 cm from the division decrease 2 stitches mid under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 4-3-2-2-2-1½ cm a total of 7-9-11-11-13-16 times = 40-40-43-45-46-48 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the sleeve measures 36-35-33-33-32-31 cm. Knit 1 round where you increase 4-4-5-3-6-4 stitches evenly spaced = 44-44-48-48-52-52 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember CASTING-OFF TIP. The sleeve measures approx. 39-38-36-36-35-34 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
