Front Band/Collar - I'm a bit confused about the 11 centre Purled sections (seen from the RS). The central rib is knit when knitting with 284 stitches and 4 garter + 4 knit at the beginning/end of each row from RS. Should I increase in 10 or 12 central purled section as I have an even number of central purled sections or am I reading the instructions incorrectly? Please help.

Merci

The front edge on the cardigan is straight and only 1 st dec on larger sizes. The rib has inc's which gives some of the shape you see in the picture.

Pattern schematic and photo show a 6 to 7 stitch decrease on left & right front centers. Instructions don't allow for this. Help please.

Bind off only from the RS Bind off as follows after 5 stocking sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso Bind off as follows before 5 stocking sts: K2 tog. Back piece: Cast on 86-94-102-110-118 sts(inclusive of 1 edge st each side) on needles size 4.5 in Alaska. Knit 5 cm Rib as follows: Size S, L and XXL: 1 edge st and 4 P sts each side. Size M and XL: 1 edge st and 4 K sts each side. Change to needles size 5 mm and continue in stocking sts. Remember the knitting tension! When the piece measures 15 cm bind off 1 st each side on every 5th cm a total of 5 times = 76-84-92-100-108 sts. When the piece measures 52-53-54-55-56 cm bind off for armhole each side as follows: 3-4-5-6-8 sts 1 time and then 1 st on every other row – see binding off tips – a total of 4-6-7-9-10 times = 62-64-68-70-72 sts. When the piece measures 70-72-74-76-78 cm bind off the center 16-16-18-18-18 sts for neck. On the next row bind off 1 more st each neck side = 22-23-24-25-26 sts left for each shoulder. When the piece measures 72-74-76-78-80 cm bind off the remaining sts. Left front: Cast on 34-38-42-46-50 sts (inclusive of 1 edge st at the side and 1 edge st mid front) on needles size 4.5 mm in Alaska. Knit 5 cm Rib as follows: Size S, L and XXL: 1 edge st and 4 K sts at the side. Size M and XL: 1 edge st and P 4 sts at the side – for all sizes there should be 4 P sts and 1 edge st mid front. Change to needles size 5 mm and continue in stocking sts. When the piece measures 15 cm bind off 1 st at the side on every 5th cm a total of 5 times = 29-33-37-41-45 sts. When the piece measures 50-51-52-53-54 cm dec 0-0-1-1-1 st mid front (inside the edge st). When the piece measures 52-53-54-55-56 cm bind off for armhole as done for the back = 22-23-24-25-26 sts left for the shoulder. When the piece measures 72-74-76-78-80 cm bind off the remaining sts. Right front: Knit as the left front but reverse. Sleeve: Cast on 42-42-42-50-50 sts (inclusive of 1 edge st each side) on needles size 4.5 mm in Alaska. Knit 15 cm Rib with 1 edge sts each side. Change to needles size 5 mm and continue in stocking sts – at the same time on the 1st row adjust the number of sts to 42-42-42-48-48. When the piece measures 16-16-16-17-17 cm inc 1 st each side for every 3-2.5-2-2-1.5 cm a total of 11-13-15-14-16 times = 64-68-72-76-80 sts. When the piece measures 49-48-47-45-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-2-3-2-2 times and 1 st 1-2-2-5-6 times. Continue to bind off 2 sts each side until the piece measures 56 cm. Then bind off each side 3 sts 1 time. When the piece measures 57 cm bind off the remaining sts. Knit the other sleeve. Assembly: Sew shoulders seams. Front band/Collar: Pick up 276-284-292-300-308 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm in Alaska along the right front piece, along the back neck and along the left front piece. Knit in Rib with 4 sts of garter sts and 4 K sts at the bottom of each side seen from the RS. When the band measure 5 cm inc 1 st in the centre of each of the 11 centre Purled sections (seen from the RS) – this means the 4 P sts becomes 5 P sts. When the front band measures 12 cm bind off in Rib. Crochet edge: Use crochet hook size 5 and crochet with Alaska along all of the front edge as follows: 1 dc in the 1st st of the right front, *4 ch, 1dc in the next st* repeat from *-* and crochet the same way at the bottom of the sleeves. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sleeve and the side seams inside the edge st. Sew on 3 buttons at the left front piece where you pick up the sts for the front band. The top button should be approx. 30 cm from the shoulder and there should be 9 cm in between each one. U |
