---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for correct size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. RAGLAN (when working back and forth): All increases are done from right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop in front of the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. RAGLAN (when working in the round): Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Knit yarn over in loop in front of needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the left): Knit yarn overs in loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP: When increasing stitches evenly in transition for rib, it is important to increase where stitches are going to be purled then, the stitches in stocking stitch will continue nicely from stocking stitch over into rib. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Worked top down. Cast on stitches for neck and work back and forth on circular needle with increases in raglan – AT THE SAME TIME cast on stitches in each side of row until correct number of stitches and the neck is done. Then work the yoke in the round on circular needle top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a neck edge in the round. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. NECKLINE: Cast on 82-84-86-90-92-100-102 stitches on circular needle size 4.5 mm with DROPS Muskat or DROPS Belle. Insert 4 markers in the piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Count 1 stitch (= left front piece), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 23-23-23-25-25-29-29 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 30-32-34-34-36-36-38 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 23-23-23-25-25-29-29 stitches (= sleeve piece), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 1 stitch remains on row for right front piece. INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING: Work back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME cast on new stitches for neck and increase for RAGLAN – read explanation above for increase method. When stitches are worked, work them in the following pattern: Work stocking stitch on front pieces and back piece and work stocking stitch and PATTERN - read explanation above, on sleeves, i.e. work A.1 over the middle stitches on sleeves between 1st and 2nd marker and between 3rd and 4th marker. Remember to follow the knitting tension! WORK AND INCREASE AS FOLLOWS: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 1, increase for RAGLAN on each side of 1st marker, knit 4, A.1, knit 4 sleeve, increase for raglan on each side of 2nd marker, knit until 3rd marker (= back piece), increase for raglan on each side of 3rd marker, knit 4, A.1, knit 4 over sleeve, increase for raglan on each side of 4th marker, knit 1 (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 92-94-96-100-102-110-112 stitches. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Purl (remember to work yarn overs as explained in RAGLAN), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row 94-96-98-102-104-112-114 stitches. ROW 4 (= right side): Knit and continue A.1 over the middle 15-15-15-17-17-21-21 stitches on each sleeve – AT THE SAME TIME increase for raglan on each side of the 4 markers (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 104-106-108-112-114-122-124 stitches. ROW 5 (= wrong side): Purl, then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 106-108-110-114-116-124-126 stitches. ROW 6 (= right side): Knit and A.1 as before, increase for raglan on each side of the 4 markers (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 3 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 117-119-121-125-127-135-137 stitches. ROW 7 (= wrong side): Purl, then cast on 3 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 120-122-124-128-130-138-140 stitches. ROW 8 (= right side): Knit and A.1 as before, increase for raglan on each side of the 4 markers (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 14-16-18-18-20-20-22 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 142-146-150-154-158-166-170 stitches. AFTER 8TH ROW: Neckline is now done, and 4 increases for raglan have been done in total on each side of the 4 markers. Cut the yarn. Insert 1 marker thread in stitches on back piece (= mid back). Then work piece in the round from mid back, thus move the stitches on left needle on to right needle until marker thread (stitches are not worked but moved). YOKE: Work stocking stitch and continue A.1 on sleeves - AT THE SAME TIME continue increases for raglan on every other round 0-7-4-9-14-16-13 more times (4-11-8-13-18-20-17 increases for raglan have been done in total) = 142-202-182-226-270-294-274 stitches. Continue increase for raglan on every other round on front pieces and back piece, but on sleeves increase only on every 4th round (= alternately 4 and 8 stitches increased), repeat this increase 22-16-22-20-16-16-22 times in total on front pieces and back piece and 11-8-11-10-8-8-11 times on sleeves. Increase has been done 26-27-30-33-34-36-39 times in total on front pieces/back piece and 15-19-19-23-26-28-28 times on sleeves (including increases worked at the same time as neckline). After last increase there are 274-298-314-346-366-390-406 stitches on row, and piece measures approx. 20-21-23-25-26-28-30 cm from the neck mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 42-46-49-53-56-61-65 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece), slip the next 53-57-59-67-71-73-73 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 84-92-98-106-112-122-130 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), slip the next 53-57-59-67-71-73-73 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 42-46-49-53-56-61-65 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 192-208-224-240-260-284-308 stitches. Work stocking stitch as before until piece measures 36-38-40-42-43-44-46 cm from the neckline mid front. Switch to circular needles size 2.5 mm, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 38-42-44-48-52-56-62 stitches evenly on 1st round - read INCREASE TIP = 230-250-268-288-312-340-370 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl , or cast off with Italian cast-off. Jumper measures 40-42-44-46-48-49-51 cm from the neckline mid front and approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 53-57-59-67-71-73-73 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4.5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 stitches cast on under sleeve- read SLEEVE TIP = 65-69-73-81-89-93-97 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work stocking stitch and pattern in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches 2-4-4-6-7-7-7 times every 3-3-3-2-1½-1½-1½ cm = 57-57-61-65-69-73-77 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 20-20-19-19-17-16-15 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 9-9-11-11-11-13-13 stitches evenly on 1st round (make sure to increase an even number of stitches over A.1) = 66-66-72-76-80-86-90 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl , or cast off with Italian cast-off. Sleeve measures approx. 24-24-23-23-22-21-20 cm from division. NECK EDGE: Use circular needle size 2.5 mm. Begin from right side mid back and pick up approx. 116-120-124-130-136-142-146 stitches around the neck. Knit 1 round and adjust number of stitches if needed - number must be divisible by 2 and adjust so that rib fits with 1 knit stitch over every raglan stitch from yoke. Work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1) for 3-3-3½-3½-4-4-4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl or cast off with Italian cast off. |
