How many chains do you start with to make the circle?

Dear Tina, you can see at the explanations for teh diagram, that the starting circle = 4 chain stitches + 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Happy crafting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. SQUARE: Square-1: Work the chain-stitch ring and the next 3 rounds with mustard, then the remaining rounds with off white. Square-2: Work the chain-stitch ring and the next 3 rounds with coral, then the remaining rounds with off white. Square-3: Work the chain-stitch ring and the next 3 rounds with powder pink, then the remaining rounds with off white. Square-4: Work the chain-stitch ring and the next 3 rounds with sea green, then the remaining rounds with off white. Square-5: Work the chain-stitch ring and the next 3 rounds with pistachio, then the remaining rounds with off white. STRIPES (for edge): ROUNDS 1-3.: off white. ROUNDS 4-5: mustard. ROUND 6: off white. CROCHET INFORMATION (for edge): On rounds 1, 2, 3 and 6, the three chain stitches replace the first treble crochet on the round. On rounds 4 and 5, the 3 chain stitches are in addition to the first treble crochet on the round. COLOUR CHANGE: When changing colour, work as follows: work the last stitch on round with first colour, but wait with final yarn over and pull through, change to next colour and work last yarn over and pull through with new colour. Continue to next round. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: You first work 30 crochet squares which are sewn together. Then you work an edge around the blanket. CROCHET SQUARE: Work 4 chain stitches with mustard and hook size 3.5 mm and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work SQUARE (applies to crochet squares) - read description above and pattern in the round as follows: A.1 (shows how the round starts and finishes), A.2 a total of 3 times on the round. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! When A.1 and A.2 have been completed the square measures approx. 17 cm x 17 cm. Cut the strand. Work 9 more square-1 = 10 squares. Work 5 of each of the other squares (= square-2 to square-5). When all the squares are finished you have a total of 30 crochet squares. ASSEMBLY: Lay out the squares as shown in the sketch. The number on the squares shows where they are placed: 1 = mustard 2 = coral 3 = powder pink 4 = sea green 5 = pistachio Sew the squares together with off white. Sew in outermost loop of outermost stitch – see video. Sew first across the blanket so that you have 6 strips of 5 squares each. Then sew the strips together in length. Cut and fasten the strands. EDGE: Now work STRIPES (for edge) and pattern around the whole blanket as follows – read CROCHET INFORMATION: Start in the transition between 2 squares before one of the corners as follows: Work A.3a (shows how the round starts and finishes), A.3b to the corner, * work A.3c around the chain-space in corner, work the first treble crochet in A.3b around the chain-space in corner, continue with A.3b to next corner *, work from *-* a total of 4 times on the round. Continue until all rounds have been completed in height. Cut and fasten the strands. |
