Hello! I am knitting this pattern in size M/L. I am about to work the first increase - 92 stitches on my needle. Please can I clarify the INCREASE TIP instructions. Do I increase 11 stitches over four rounds? So, first round = 92 divided by 44 or 92 divided by 11? Second round = 103 divided by 44 or 103 divided by 33? And so on. I hope you can understand my reasoning. Many thanks Margaret

Dear Margaret, you will divide 92 by 44 to get how to inc to 136 sts then 136 by 44 to get how to inc to 180 sts. read more about dec/inc evenly here. Happy knitting!

DOUBLE MOSS STITCH: ROUND 1: * Knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. ROUND 2: Knit over knit and purl over purl. ROUND 3: * Purl 1, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. ROUND 4: Purl over purl and knit over knit. Repeat rounds 1-4. INCREASE TIP (applies to neck warner): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total no of sts on row (e.g. 84 sts) and divide sts by no of increases to be done (e.g. 24) = 3.5. I.e. in this example increase after alternately every 3rd and 4th st. NOTE: Increase 1 st by making 1 yarn over, on next round knit yarn over twisted to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round on a short circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when needed. Cast on 80-84-88 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm with Big Delight. Knit 1 round. Then work rib = knit 1/purl 1. When piece measures 5 cm, switch to circular needle size 5 mm. Now work in DOUBLE MOSS STITCH - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures approx. 19-20-21 cm - adjust after one whole repetition of double moss stitch vertically, work next round as follows: * Knit 1, purl 1, purl 2 together *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 60-63-66 sts. Then work rib = knit 1/purl 2 the entire round. When hat measures 21-23-25 cm, decrease all 2 purl to 1 purl = 40-42-44 sts. Continue rib with knit 1/purl 1 until piece measures 22-24-26 cm. On next round knit all sts together 2 by 2 = 20-21-22 sts remain on needle. Knit 1 round without decreasing, then knit all sts together 2 by 2 again. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Hat measures approx. 23-25-27 cm from top and down. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER: Worked in the round on circular needle, top down. Cast on 105-115-125 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm with Big Delight. Knit 1 round. Work next round as follows: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Continue rib like this for 3 cm. On next round decrease all 2 purl to 1 purl = 84-92-100 sts. Continue rib knit 1/purl 1 until piece measures 4 cm. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work DOUBLE MOSS STITCH - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 8 cm (finish after 2nd or 4th round double moss stitch), knit 4 rounds – AT THE SAME TIME increase 46-44-42 sts evenly on next to last round – READ INCREASE TIP = 130-136-142 sts. Work moss stitch for 4 cm, knit 4 rounds and increase 46-44-42 sts evenly on next to last round = 176-180-184 sts. Work in double moss st for 4-5-6 cm. Then work 3 rounds rib (= knit 1/purl 1 with knit over knit and purl over purl) before LOOSELY casting off (make sure to avoid a tight cast-off edge). Neck warmer measures approx. 22-23-24 cm from top and down. ---------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMER: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 35-40 sts on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm with Big Delight. Knit 1 round. Work next round as follows: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Continue rib like this for 3 cm. On next round decrease all 2 purl to 1 purl = 28-32 sts. Continue rib until piece measures 4 cm, switch to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Now work in DOUBLE MOSS STITCH - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures approx. 16-18 cm (finish after one whole repetition with double moss stitch), switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1). After 1 cm with rib increase every other 1 purl to 2 purl (increase 1 st by making 1 yarn over, purl yarn over twisted on next round to avoid holes) = 35-40 sts. Continue rib until piece measures 20-22 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Knit another wrist warmer the same way. |
