---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. RAGLAN: All increases are done from right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop that is in front the needle - to avoid holes. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 5 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after stitches for neck edge have been cast on. Then decrease the next 6-6-6-6-6-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 7-7-7½-7½-7½-7-7½ cm apart. Adjust so that bottom buttonhole is placed in the transition between stocking stitch and rib on body. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. First work a neckline back and forth on circular needle, top down while casting on new stitches in each side to form a neckline. Work yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches along the neck and work the neck edge back and forth. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. NECKLINE: Cast on 58-58-60-62-64-68-70 stitches on circular needle size 5.5 mm with 1 strand DROPS Daisy and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk or 1 strand DROPS Cotton Merino and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row from wrong side. Insert 4 markers in piece while working next row, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches. Read explanation on how to increase. ROW 1 (from right side): Knit 1, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and insert 1 marker in this stitch (= raglan stitch), make 1 yarn over, knit 16 (= sleeve), make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and insert 1 marker in this stitch (= raglan stitch), make 1 yarn over, knit 20-20-22-24-26-30-32 (= back piece), make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and insert 1 marker in this stitch (= raglan stitch), make 1 yarn over, knit 16 (= sleeve), make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and insert 1 marker in this stitch (= raglan stitch), make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and cast on 2 new stitches at the end of row = 68-68-70-72-74-78-80 stitches. ROW 2 (from wrong side): Purl over all stitches (remember to work yarn overs as explained in RAGLAN), cast on 2 new stitches at the end of row = 70-70-72-74-76-80-82 stitches. ROW 3 (from right side): Work in stocking stitch and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, cast on 2 new stitches at the end of row = 80-80-82-84-86-90-92 stitches. ROW 4 (from wrong side): Purl over all stitches, cast on 2 new stitches at the end of row = 82-82-84-86-88-92-94 stitches. Work 3rd and 4th ROW 1 more time. 3 increases for raglan have been done, 6 new stitches have been cast on in each side = 94-94-96-98-100-104-106 stitches on needle. Then work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work in stocking stitch and increase for raglan as explained above, cast on 10-10-11-12-13-15-16 new stitches at the end of row = 112-112-115-118-121-127-130 stitches ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above, purl the rest of row, cast on 10-10-11-12-13-15-16 new stitches at the end of row = 122-122-126-130-134-142-146 stitches. There are now 28-28-30-32-34-38-40 stitches on back piece and 24 stitches on each sleeve, 21-21-22-23-24-26-27 stitches on each front piece, and 1 stitch in each raglan line. Then work yoke as explained below. YOKE: Work in stocking stitch back and forth with 7 band stitches in each side towards mid front. Remember the knitting tension and REMEMBER BUTTONHOLES on right band - see explanation above. Continue increases for raglan like this - NOTE! ROW 1 (= right side): Work stocking stitch and bands as before, and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work stocking stitch and bands (remember to work yarn overs as explained in RAGLAN). Work 1st and 2nd ROW 0-3-6-5-3-5-3 times (= 0-6-12-10-6-10-6 rows have been worked) = 122-146-174-170-158-182-170 stitches on needle. ALL SIZES: Then work and increase for raglan as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work stocking stitch and bands as before, and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work in stocking stitch and bands. ROW 3 (= right side): Work stocking stitch and bands and increase for raglan on front piece and back piece, i.e. increase before 1st and 3rd marker and after 2nd and 4th marker - do not increase stitches on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work in stocking stitch and bands. Work 1st to 4th ROW 11-11-10-11-13-12-14 times (= 22-22-20-22-26-24-28 increases on front piece/back piece and 11-11-10-11-13-12-14 increases on sleeves) = 254-278-294-302-314-326-338 stitches on needle.
