---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE MARKER: Purl yarn overs in back loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in pattern. AFTER MARKER: Slip stitch off left needle and put it back on left needle but the opposite way (insert left needle from behind when slipping it back on needle). Purl yarn overs in front loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in pattern. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Read the diagrams from right to left when working from right side and from left to right when working from wrong side. Number of stitches in diagram A.2 varies between 8 and 9 stitches because of increases and decreases in pattern - number of stitches in pattern is based on A.2 having 8 stitches. GARTER STITCH (when working back and forth): Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Adjust decrease to decrease on a knit round. Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker, knit 2 together, knit 3 (marker is in the middle stitch), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band from right side- decrease for 1 buttonhole as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 2 together, make 1 yarn over. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work rib as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Place top buttonhole approx. 3-3-2-3-4-3-2 cm from neck edge, place bottom buttonhole approx. 8-8-8-9-9-10-10 cm from bottom edge. Place the remaining 4-4-5-5-5-5-5 buttonholes evenly approx. 9-9½-8½-8½-9-9-9½ cm apart. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Worked top down. Cast on stitches for neck and work back and forth on circular needle - AT THE SAME TIME cast on new stitches in each side of row until correct number of stitches and the neck is done. Then work yoke back and forth on circular needle, top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a high collar back and forth. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. NECKLINE: Cast on 53-55-59-65-69-71-73 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with DROPS Nepal. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Raglan stitches are worked in stocking stitch. Count 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 stitch (= left front piece), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 11-11-13-15-17-17-17 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 25-27-27-29-29-31-33 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 11-11-13-15-17-17-17 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 stitch remains on row for right front piece. INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING: Work back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME cast on new stitches for neck and increase for RAGLAN, then also work PATTERN - read explanation above on how to increase and on how to work pattern, i.e. first work in stocking stitch until a few cm have been worked after neck is done, then work pattern. Work as explained below. Remember to follow the knitting tension! WORK AND INCREASE AS FOLLOWS: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 9 stitches increased) = 62-64-68-74-78-80-82 stitches. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl (remember to work yarn overs twisted to separate side as explained in RAGLAN), then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 1 stitch increased) = 63-65-69-75-79-81-83 stitches. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 9 stitches increased) = 72-74-78-84-88-90-92 stitches. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 1 stitch increased) = 73-75-79-85-89-91-93 stitches. ROW 5 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 10 stitches increased) = 83-85-89-95-99-101-103 stitches. ROW 6 (= wrong side): Purl (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 2 stitch increased) = 85-87-91-97-101-103-105 stitches. ROW 7 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 10 stitches increased) = 95-97-101-107-111-113-115 stitches. ROW 8 (= wrong side): Purl (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 2 stitch increased) = 97-99-103-109-113-115-117 stitches. ROW 9 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 6-6-8-8-8-9-9 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 14-14-16-16-16-17-17 stitches increased) = 111-113-119-125-129-132-134 stitches. ROW 10 (= wrong side): Work 1 stitch in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above, purl the rest of row (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 6-6-8-8-8-9-9 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 6-6-8-8-8-9-9 stitch increased) = 117-119-127-133-137-141-143 stitches. Neckline is done and 5 increases for raglan have been done on each side of the 4 raglan stitches, there are 19-19-21-21-21-22-22 stitches on front piece (including raglan stitch), 37-39-39-41-41-43-45 stitches on back piece (including raglan stitches) and 21-21-23-25-27-27-27 stitches on sleeves (inside raglan stitches). Then work yoke as explained below. YOKE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side (work yarn overs twisted to separate side). Work 1st and 2nd ROW until piece measures 3-4-4-5-3-4-2 cm from where neckline was done. Now work pattern while continuing increases as before, work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 1 stitch in garter stitch, work A.1 until first marker, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch (always work raglan stitches in stocking stitch), work A.1 until next marker (begin A.1 with same stitch (knit or purl) as A.1 ended with before raglan stitch - this applies to every time moss stitch is worked after raglan stitch), increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch, work A.1 until next marker, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch, work A.1 until next stitch, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch, work A.1 until 1 stitch remains, finish with 1 stitch in garter stitch (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work A.1 with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side as before (remember to purl raglan stitches from wrong side and to work yarn overs twisted to separate side). AFTER 2ND ROW: Work 1st and 2nd ROW until 10-13-14-16-20-14-18 increases for raglan have been done in total, including increases in neckline (= 20-26-28-32-40-28-36 rows worked). There are 24-27-30-32-36-31-35 stitches on front pieces, 47-55-57-63-71-61-71 stitches on back piece and 31-37-41-47-57-45-53 stitches on sleeves = 157-183-199-221-257-213-247 stitches. Then work and increase as follows (continue pattern as before): ROW 1 (= right side): Work A.1 as before with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work A.1 with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side as before (remember to purl raglan stitches from wrong side and to work yarn overs twisted to separate side). ROW 3 (= right side): Work A.1 with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side as before and increase for raglan BEFORE 1st and 3rd marker and AFTER 2nd and 4th marker (only increase on front pieces/back piece - not on sleeves = 4 stitches increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): A.1 with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side as before (work yarn overs twisted to separate side). AFTER 4TH ROW: Work 1st to 4th ROW 7-6-6-6-4-9-8 times in total (= 28-24-24-24-16-36-32 rows worked), 7-6-6-6-4-9-8 increases have been done on sleeves and 14-12-12-12-8-18-16 increases have been done on front piece/back piece) = 241-255-271-293-305-321-343 stitches on needle. All increases are now done, 24-25-26-28-28-32-34 increases have been done in total for front pieces/back piece and 17-19-20-22-24-23-26 increases have been done in total on sleeves = 38-39-42-44-44-49-51 stitches on front pieces (including raglan stitch), 75-79-81-87-87-97-103 stitches on back piece (including raglan stitches) and 45-49-53-59-65-63-69 stitches on sleeves (inside raglan stitches). Work without increasing until piece measures 25-26-28-29-30-34-36 cm from shoulder when garment is folded on shoulder (continue pattern as before) Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 38-40-44-46-48-52-56 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 45-47-49-55-57-57-59 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 75-81-85-91-95-103-113 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 45-47-49-55-57-57-59 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 38-40-44-46-48-52-56 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 169-183-199-213-225-249-271 stitches. Continue pattern as before with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side until piece measures approx. 38-40-42-42-43-44-46 cm measured from neck mid front – piece measures approx. 46-48-50-51-53-54-56 cm from shoulder – adjust to work at least 5 cm in stocking stitch after last stripe with relief pattern. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 58-68-68-78-82-90-92 stitches evenly on 1st row = 227-251-267-291-307-339-363 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm, work 1 stitch in garter stitch, work A.2 28-31-33-36-38-42-45 times in total - remember increase, work 1 stitch in stocking stitch and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern like this until piece measures approx. 8-8-8-9-9-10-10 cm - finish after 3rd or 4th row in diagram. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jacket measures approx. 46-48-50-51-52-54-56 cm from neck mid front and approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 45-47-49-55-57-57-59 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 54-58-62-70-74-78-82 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at marker. Work A.1 in the round - continue pattern from yoke. AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-2-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 cm 0-0-2-4-4-4-4 times in total = 50-54-54-58-62-64-68 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 34-33-33-32-33-28-26 cm from division. On next round begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 22-18-26-22-26-24-28 stitches evenly on 1st round = 72-72-80-80-88-88-96 stitches, work as follows: Switch to double pointed needle size 3.5 mm and work A.2 9-9-10-10-11-11-12 times in total in the round on sleeve - remember increase. Continue pattern like this until rib measures 12-12-12-13-13-14-14 cm - finish after 3rd or 4th round in diagram. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 46-45-45-45-46-42-40 cm from division. HIGH COLLAR: Use circular needle size 3.5 mm, begin from right side mid front and pick up approx. 77-79-87-89-97-101-103 stitches around the neck inside 1 stitch. Purl 1 row from wrong side with 1 stitch in garter stitch in each side while AT THE SAME TIME increasing evenly to 99-101-113-115-125-131-133 stitches - number of stitches must be divisible by 2 + 1. Work next row as follows from right side: 1 stitch in garter stitch, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1), until 2 stitches remain, knit 1 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue rib back and forth like this for 9-10-11-12-12-13-13 cm. Cast off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. LEFT BAND: Pick up stitches from right side along left front piece and neck on circular needle size 3.5 mm, pick up stitches inside 1 stitch in garter stitch as follows: Pick up approx. 113-117-123-127-129-135-139 stitches (this equals approx. 20 stitches per 10 cm along the edge – number of stitch must be divisible by 2 + 1). Work first row as follows from wrong side: 1 stitch in garter stitch, work rib (= purl 1 / knit 1) until 2 stitches remain on row, purl 1 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue until neck edge measures approx. 3 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. RIGHT BAND: Pick up stitches the same way along right front piece and work as left band but when band measures approx. 1 to 1½ cm, decrease for 6-6-7-7-7-7-7 BUTTONHOLES evenly – read explanation on BUTTONHOLES above. After buttonholes continue band until same measurements as left band. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons on to the left band. |
