Hello again. Can I use a different increase instead of YO? Also, are there any amendments/corrections to the English Pattern ? thanks!
09.03.2025 - 20:43DROPS Design answered:
Dear Claudia, all corrections to the pattern will be indicated with red at the bottom of the pattern; there are no corrections to the pattern as of now. The online version will always be the newest, more correct one. If you don't want to work yarn overs you can increase by making one (M1). Happy knitting!

Help! I worked the neck rib, but then the patter says \\\"The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 44-44-46-48-48-50 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here\\\". Am I meant to work (size M) 44 stiches in rib, put a marker in, and then start the the yoke in garter stitch? It asks to put a marker in at the beginning of the round, but isn\\\'t the marker already there (the one that I put after the 44 stitches)?
09.03.2025 - 20:40DROPS Design answered:
Dear Claudia, the marker after the first 44 stitches is inserted before working the stitches; this marks the mid-front and it is used only for measuring the piece. After this, you will insert 4 markers for the yoke, before starting to work (you can use different color threads or markers to separate between the yoke and the measuring markers). After inserting the measuring marker and the yoke markers you will start working in garter stitch. The beginning of the round isn't displaced; it's the same as before and it corresponds to the transition between the back piece and right sleeve. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): Alternately knit 1 round and purl 1 round. 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds. RAGLAN: Only increase on purled rounds! Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round (knitted round): BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it twisted (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in garter stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in garter stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): All decreases are worked on a knitted round! Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Knit 1, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 1 (= 2 decreased stitches). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 120-120-128-136-136-144 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and DROPS Nord or DROPS Alpaca. Purl 1, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-*until there are 3 stitches left on the round, knit 2, purl 1. Continue this rib in the round for 2 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 44-44-46-48-48-50 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Insert 4 marker-threads, without working the stitches and inserting the threads between 2 stitches, which are called raglan-stitches and are worked in garter stitch. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round, count 28 stitches (= sleeve), Insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, count 32-32-36-40-40-44 stitches (= front piece), Insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, count 28 stitches (= sleeve), Insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, there are 32-32-36-40-40-44 stitches after the last marker-thread (= back piece). Work GARTER STITCH and increase for RAGLAN – read descriptions above, as follows: ROUND 1: Purl and increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches (= 8 increased stitches). (NOTE! The beginning of the round sits between 2 raglan-stitches; increase the first stitch after stitch 1 on the round and increase the last stitch before the last stitch on the round). ROUND 2: Knit – remember to knit the yarn over as described under RAGLAN. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 2-2-8-10-6-4 times (= 4-4-16-20-12-8 rounds worked) = 136-136-192-216-184-176 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now increase as follows: ROUND 1: Purl and increase for raglan on each side of all raglan-stitches (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit. ROUND 3: Purl and increase for raglan only on the front and back pieces, i.e., after marker-threads 2 and 4 and before marker-threads 3 and 1 – do not increase across the sleeves (= 4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 19-20-18-18-21-23 times (= 76-80-72-72-84-92 rounds worked = you have increased 19-20-18-18-21-23 times on sleeves and 38-40-36-36-42-46 times on the front and back pieces) = 364-376-408-432-436-452 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished: you have increased a total of 40-42-44-46-48-50 times on the front and back pieces and 21-22-26-28-27-27 times on sleeves. Continue with garter stitch but without further increases until the yoke measures 17-18-20-21-23-25 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Place the first 70-72-80-84-82-82 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-10-12-16-26-30 stitches (under sleeve), work 112-116-124-132-136-144 stitches in garter stitch (= front piece), place the next 70-72-80-84-82-82 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-10-12-16-26-30 stitches (under sleeve), work the last 112-116-124-132-136-144 stitches in garter stitch (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 236-252-272-296-324-348 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 6-10-12-16-26-30 stitches cast on under 1 sleeve. Work to this marker; the round now starts here. Continue garter stitch in the round until the piece measures 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 64-76-80-84-96-100 stitches evenly on the first round = 300-328-352-380-420-448 stitches. When the rib measures 1 cm, cast off a little loosely. The jumper measures approx. 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm from the marker mid-front and 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 70-72-80-84-82-82 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 3.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-10-12-16-26-30 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 76-82-92-100-108-112 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-10-12-16-26-30 stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work garter stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 2 cm, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 6-4½-3-2½-2-2 cm a total of 8-10-14-16-19-20 times = 60-62-64-68-70-72 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 48-47-45-45-44-42 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 16-18-20-20-22-20 stitches evenly on the first round = 76-80-84-88-92-92 stitches. When the rib measures 1 cm, cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 48-48-46-46-45-43 cm from the division. |
