------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- ELEVATION: To make the jumper higher at the back when working a round yoke, work an elevation. Skip this section if you do not want an elevation. Start from the right side and knit 11-12-13-14-15-16-17 stitches past the marker-thread at the beginning of the round (mid-back), turn, tighten the strand and purl 22-24-26-28-30-32-34. Turn, tighten the strand and knit 33-36-39-42-45-48-51, turn, tighten the strand and purl 44-48-52-56-60-64-68. Turn, tighten the strand and knit 55-60-65-70-75-80-85, turn, tighten the strand and purl 66-72-78-84-90-96-102. Turn, tighten the strand and knit to the marker-thread mid-back. Continue the yoke. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. The whole pattern is worked in stocking stitch. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting tension losing its elasticity when working pattern, it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if the piece becomes tight. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid-back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles. DOUBLE NECK: Cast on 80-84-86-88-90-94-96 stitches with colour marzipan DROPS Daisy, using short circular needles size 3 and 4 mm held together. Remove the needle size 4 mm (In the smallest sizes it might be necessary to use double pointed needles if a short circular needle is too long). This method gives you an elastic cast-on edge. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) in the round for 7 cm. Fold the neck double to the inside and work 1 more round of rib, working every 2nd stitch together with its corresponding stitch on the cast-on edge. You now have a double neck. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round (mid-back). Allow the thread to follow your work onwards. Knit 1 round and increase 24-26-28-30-32-32-34 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 104-110-114-118-122-126-130 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the round (mid-front). The yoke is measured from this marker. You can now work an ELEVATION at the back – read description above. Skip this section if you do not want an elevation. Work stocking stitch in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION. When the yoke measures 2-2-3-3-4-4-5 cm from the marker, increase 24-26-30-34-38-42-46 stitches evenly spaced = 128-136-144-152-160-168-176 stitches. Continue working until the yoke measures 3-3-4-4-5-5-6 cm from the marker. Now work A.1 and increase as described below – read KNITTING TIP and PATTERN above. Work A.1 16-17-18-19-20-21-22 times on the round. AT THE SAME TIME on each round with an arrow in the diagram increase as follows: ARROW-1: Increase 32-32-32-40-40-40-48 stitches evenly spaced = 160-168-176-192-200-208-224 stitches. ARROW-2: Increase 32-32-32-32-40-40-40 stitches evenly spaced = 192-200-208-224-240-248-264 stitches. ARROW-3: Increase 16-16-16-16-16-16-16 stitches evenly spaced = 208-216-224-240-256-264-280 stitches. ARROW-4: Increase 0-4-8-4-0-4-0 stitches evenly spaced = 208-220-232-244-256-268-280 stitches. When A.1 is finished, continue with stocking stitch in colour marzipan. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When the yoke measures 13-14-15-16-17-18-19 cm from the marker, work as follows: Knit 31-33-35-37-39-41-43 (half back piece), place the next 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit 62-66-70-74-78-82-86 (front piece), place the next 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit the last 31-33-35-37-39-41-43 stitches (half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. The piece is now measured from here. BODY: = 140-148-156-164-172-180-188 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the cast-on stitches under one sleeve. Cut the strand and begin the next round at the marker, or work to the marker with colour marzipan. Continue stocking stitch in the round with colour marzipan for a further 15-18-21-24-25-26-27 cm. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 12-14-14-16-16-18-20 stitches evenly spaced = 152-162-170-180-188-198-208 stitches. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Cast off a little loosely. The jumper measures approx. 36-40-44-48-50-52-54 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8 stitches cast on under the sleeve with colour marzipan = 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve and allow it to follow your work onwards, it is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 2-2-3-4-4-4-4 cm, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 3-3½-4-4½-5-6-7cm a total of 6 times = 38-40-42-44-46-48-50 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 18-22-26-30-34-38-41 cm from the division (or to desired length. There is approx. 4 cm left). Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 4-4-4-4-4-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 42-44-46-48-50-54-56 stitches. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm. Cast off a little loosely. The sleeve measures approx. 22-26-30-34-38-42-45 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
