------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. DECREASE TIP (for the armholes and neck): Decrease are worked inside 2 stitches and from the right side: At the end of the row: Work until there are 4 stitches left, knit 2 together, work 1 stocking stitch and 1 garter stitch. At the beginning of the row: Work 1 garter stitch and 1 stocking stitch, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, work to the end of the row. INCREASE TIP (sleeves): Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, with circular needle, bottom up as far as the armholes. The piece is divided and the front and back pieces finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round, bottom up, then the sleeve cap finished back and forth. The neck is worked to finish. JUMPER: Cast on 280-308-336-364-406-434 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 2, purl 5) for 3 cm. Now decrease 1 stitch in each purled section by purling the first 2 stitches together. Repeat this decrease when the piece measures 4 cm, but now purl together the last 2 stitches in each purled section = 200-220-240-260-290-310 stitches. On the next round work A.1 over all stitches (20-22-24-26-29-31 times in width). When A.1 has been completed in height there are 160-176-192-208-232-248 stitches and the piece measures approx. 9 cm. Knit 1 round where you decrease 12-12-16-16-16-12 stitches evenly spaced = 148-164-176-192-216-236 stitches. Work A.2 over all stitches; the stitches which do not fit into the pattern are worked in stocking stitch. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Continue with stocking stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION. When the piece measures 29-30-31-32-33-34 cm, cast off for the armholes (the back and front pieces are finished separately, back and forth): Start 3 stitches before the beginning of the round, cast off 6 stitches, work 68-76-82-90-102-112 stitches, cast off 6 stitches, work 68-76-82-90-102-112 stitches. Place the first 68-76-82-90-102-112 stitches on a thread and work the last 68-76-82-90-102-112 stitches for the back piece. BACK PIECE: = 68-76-82-90-102-112 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME decrease for the armholes – read DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch 2-4-5-8-12-15 times on each side = 64-68-72-74-78-82 stitches. When the piece measures 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm, cast off the middle 24-26-28-30-32-34 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 19-20-21-21-22-23 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm (19-20-21-22-23-24 cm from the bottom of the armhole), cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 68-76-82-90-102-112 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME decrease for the armholes – remember DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch 2-4-5-8-12-15 times on each side = 64-68-72-74-78-82 stitches. When the piece measures 42-44-45-47-48-50 cm, place the middle 18-20-22-24-26-28 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Decrease 1 stitch every 2nd row 4 times - remember DECREASE TIP = 19-20-21-21-22-23 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm (19-20-21-22-23-24 cm from the bottom of the armhole), cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm and 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk. Work A.3. When A.3 has been completed in height continue with stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME on the first round increase 8 stitches evenly spaced = 52-54-56-58-60-62 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round = mid-under sleeve. When the sleeve measures 6 cm (from the folding-edge), increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 10-6-4-3-1-1 cm a total of 2-3-4-6-7-9 times = 56-60-64-70-74-80 stitches. When the sleeve measures 21-20-20-20-19-17 cm, cast off 3 stitches on each side of the marker (6 stitches cast off), and finish the sleeve cap back and forth. Cast off at the beginning of each row as follows: 2 stitches 3-3-3-3-3-4 times and 1 stitch 1-2-2-2-3-3 times on each side. Then cast off 2 stitches on each side until the sleeve measures 28 cm in all sizes, then 3 stitches 1 time on each side. Cast off the remaining stitches. The sleeve measures approx. 29 cm in all sizes. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams, sew in the sleeves. NECK: Start from the right side and knit up 68 to 96 stitches around the neck (including the stitches on the thread and the number of stitches divisible by 2) with 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk using circular needle size 4 mm. Purl 1 round, knit 1 round, purl 1 round. Then work A.4 over all stitches. Cast off a little loosely. Fold the neck along the row of holes in A.4 to the inside. Sew the cast-off edge to the top ridge. |
