Bon tricot!

That was not my question. I wasn’t asking, “How do I do the garter stitch?” I was asking “How can I look up DROPS patterns designed to be knitted using the garter stitch?” Thank you.
16.09.2020 - 06:33DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Martin, sorry for misunderstanding, you can find some of our patterns worked with garter stitch there - use filters if required - but there might be more (without the word "garter stitch" in the title). Happy knitting!

How can I look up patterns made in the garter stitch? I’m a Portuguese-style knitter and prefer knitting garter (purlwise). Thanks!
13.09.2020 - 23:20DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Martin, not sure to understand your question, you can work garter stitch either knitting all rows or purling all rows, most important will be in all cases your tension - read more about tension >here. Happy knitting!

I am fairly new to knitting and would like to try the sweet lady blue pattern DROPS design: Pattern no TT-051, Yarn group E. However I notice the pattern requires crochet for the neck. I have never crocheted. How difficult is this and do you have instructions please? Thank you Jill

Sleeve instructions are confusing. How do you put the stitches around the armhole, on a straight needle???
07.03.2017 - 00:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Drew, you can work either on a straight or on a circular needle, your choice, sleeves will be worked back and forth. Pick up sts from RS between markers for armholes on front piece and on back piece, work in garter st and on next row from RS adjust number of size to the one give for your size. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. MEASURING TIP: Measure when piece is flat, it is important not to stretch the piece when measuring. -------------------------------------------------------- BODY: Work in the round in garter st - Read explanation above. Loosely cast on 80-88-96-104-112-120 sts on circular needle size 10 mm with Ice or Snow. Work rib = K 1/P 1 for 5 cm, then work in garter st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm, insert 2 markers in the piece; 1 marker at beg of round and 1 marker after 40-44-48-52-56-60 sts. On next round cast off for armholes as follows: Cast off 2-2-3-3-4-4 sts on each side of every marker (= 4-4-6-6-8-8 sts cast off in each side). Finish each part separately. BACK PIECE: = 36-40-42-46-48-52 sts. Insert a marker at beg and end of row (where to knit up sleeves later). Continue in garter st back and forth until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Then cast off the middle 12-12-14-14-16-16 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue to cast off 1 st on next row from neck = 11-13-13-15-15-17 sts remain on the shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm. FRONT PIECE: = 36-40-42-46-48-52 sts. Insert a marker at beg and end of row (where to knit up sleeves later). Continue in garter st back and forth until piece measures 47-49-50-52-53-55 cm. Then cast off the middle 6-6-8-8-10-10 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then cast off on every row from neck as follows: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 2 times = 11-13-13-15-15-17 sts remain on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams in front loop of outermost st. SLEEVE: Worked back and forth on needle. Knit up from RS approx. 30 - 40 sts between markers along one armhole (NOTE: Do not knit up over the cast off sts for armhole). K next row while AT THE SAME TIME adjusting no of sts to 30-32-34-36-38-40. Work in garter st for 3-3-4-4-5-5 cm, then dec 1 st (by working 2 sts tog) in each side of piece. Repeat dec every 11-8-8-6-6-5 cm a total of 5-6-6-7-7-8 times = 20-20-22-22-24-24 sts. Continue in garter st until piece measures 49-48-48-46-46-45 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of broader shoulder width.), then work rib (K 1/P 1) for 5 cm, cast off all sts with K over K and P over P. Piece measures approx. 54-53-53-51-51-50 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew sleeve seams tog in front loop of outermost st to avoid a chunky seam. CROCHET EDGE: Work on hook size 10 mm around the neck as follows (beg mid back): 1 dc in first st, * 1 ch, skip approx. 1½ cm, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in 1st dc, cut and fasten the thread. NOTE: Make sure that the crochet edge is not too tight. |
