------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn-over purl-wise from the left to the right needle, place it back onto the left needle by inserting the left needle through the back (the yarn over is now the other way round). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). Work the new stitch in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). Work the new stitch in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP: To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 192 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 48) = 4. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 4th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. NOTE: When increasing evenly when starting the rib, it is important to increase in the stitches that will subsequently be purled, so the knitted stitches continue neatly from the stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder, increasing for raglan. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 112-112-112-128-128-128-128 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and DROPS Karisma or DROPS Puna, making sure the cast-on edge is not tight. Knit 1 round, then work rib in the round (purl 2 and knit 2) for 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 45-45-45-51-51-51-51 stitches (mid-front). The piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 8 markers as follows, without working the stitches and each marker inserted on each side of 6 stitches. These 6 stitches will be increased to 7 stitches (raglan-stitches) You then increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches, which are worked in PATTERN – read explanation above. Insert marker-1 before the first stitch, Count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert marker-2 before the next stitch, count 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-3 before the next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert marker-4 before the next stitch, count 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 stitches (= front piece), insert marker-5 before the next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert marker-6 before the next stitch, count 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-7 before the next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan-stitches), insert marker-8 before the next stitch, there are 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Continue with stocking stitch and pattern worked across the raglan-stitches, AT THE SAME TIME increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanation above, working as follows: ROUND 1: Work A.1 between markers 1 and 2, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between markers 3 and 4, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 (= front piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between markers 5 and 6, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between markers 7 and 8, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 22-22-22-26-26-26-26 (= back piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan = 124-124-124-140-140-140-140 stitches. ROUND 2: Continue pattern and stocking stitch; remember to work the yarn overs twisted as described under RAGLAN. A.1 is now finished. ROUND 3: Continue pattern and stocking stitch but work A.2 between markers 1 and 2 and markers 5 and 6 and A.3 between markers 3 and 4 and markers 7 and 8. In addition, increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches). NOTE: At the beginning of the round increase after marker-2, at the end of the round increase before marker-1. ROUND 4: Continue pattern and stocking stitch; remember to work the yarn overs twisted as described under RAGLAN. Work ROUNDS 3 and 4 a total of 10-16-17-19-22-21-22 times (22-34-36-40-46-44-46 rounds worked after the neck) = 204-252-260-292-316-308-316 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now increase for raglan as follows: ROUND 1: Continue pattern and stocking stitch and increase for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Continue pattern and stocking stitch (yarn overs worked as before). ROUND 3: Continue pattern and stocking stitch and increase for raglan only on the front and back piece, i.e., AFTER markers 4 and 8 and BEFORE markers 5 and 1; do not increase on the sleeves (4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Continue pattern and stocking stitch (yarn overs worked as before). Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 8-6-7-6-6-8-9 times (32-24-28-24-24-32-36 rounds worked: 8-6-7-6-6-8-9 increases on height on the sleeves and 16-12-14-12-12-16-18 increases in height on the front and back pieces). AT THE SAME TIME, on the last round, decrease 1 stitch across each cable in the raglan-lines (4 decreased stitches and 6 raglan-stitches between the markers). All increases for raglan are now finished. The cables also finish. A total of 19-23-25-26-29-30-32 increases in height on the sleeves and 27-29-32-32-35-38-41 increases in height on the front and back pieces = 296-320-340-360-384-400-420 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch in the round until the yoke measures 20-21-23-23-25-27-29 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing, the raglan-stitches will be on the front and back pieces: Knit the first 6-7-8-9-10-10-12 stitches (now belong to the back piece ), place the next 60-66-68-72-76-78-78 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-20-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 88-94-102-108-116-122-132 (= front piece), place the next 60-66-68-72-76-78-78 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-20-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 82-87-94-99-106-112-120 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 192-208-228-244-264-284-312 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-24 cast-on stitches under 1 sleeve. Work to the marker; the round now begins here. Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 43-45-47-47-49-51-53 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2 and purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 48-56-56-60-68-72-76 stitches evenly on the first round – read INCREASE TIP = 240-264-284-304-332-356-388 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 47-49-51-52-54-56-58 cm from the marker mid-front and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 60-66-68-72-76-78-78 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder onto circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-24 cast-on stitches under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 68-76-80-86-92-98-102 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-24 new stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, after 1 round, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round a total of 2-2-2-3-3-4-4 times, then every 2-2-2-2-1½-1½-1½ cm 3-6-6-7-9-10-11 times = 58-60-64-66-68-70-72 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 36-36-35-33-32-31-30 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 22-24-24-22-24-26-28 stitches evenly on the first round – remember INCREASE TIP= 80-84-88-88-92-96-100 stitches. When the rib measures 8-8-8-10-10-10-10 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 44-44-43-43-42-41-40 cm from the division. |
