I don't really understand this pattern. Should I increase 2 on both right and wrong side?
17.02.2025 - 09:16DROPS Design answered:
Dear Emilia, you should increase stitches according to the diagrams. You have to increase 1 stitch on both sides of shawl (please note that in some rows there are 2 stitches increased on both sides). Increases are made from the wrong and right side. Happy knitting!

Hei .

Bon tricot!

HA! I do not understand ANYTHING about the directions for this shawl. I am used to Drops directions, but the more recent patterns give the over view-- I can't workout what they mean here, though. Even reading this over and over. (Heavens! It's a rectangular--?--shawl...how can it be so confusing?

Bon tricot!

INFORMATION FOR PATTERN: GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: Shawl: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Wrist warmers: See diagram A.5. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. Choose diagram for your size. ---------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Work back and forth on circular needle from tip mid front and up towards neck. Cast on 3 stitches on circular needle size 8 mm with Air. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work A.1 - read PATTERN above. When A.1 has been worked, there are 33 stitches on row. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Then work pattern as follows: Work A.2 (= 8 stitches), work A.3 (= 16 stitches), work A.4 (= 9 stitches). When entire diagrams A.2 to A.4 have been worked vertically, there are 65 stitches on row. Then work as follows: Work A.2 (= 8 stitches), work A.3 (= 16 stitches) 3 times in total in width, work A.4 (= 9 stitches). When entire diagrams A.2 to A.4 have been worked vertically, there are 97 stitches on row. Then repeat A.2 to A.4 with increases - i.e. every time A.2 to A.4 have been worked vertically, work 2 more repetitions of A.3 in width. Continue like this until piece measures 44 cm in the middle. Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above, cast off with yarn overs - i.e. make 1 yarn over after every 5th stitch (cast off yarn over as stitch). ---------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMER: Work piece back and forth on needle. Cast on 30-34 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on needle size 5 mm with Air. Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. Then work pattern as follows: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, work A.5 (= 14-16 stitches) 2 times in total in width - read PATTERN above, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue until piece measures 21-22 cm. Work 2 ridges. Cast off with double yarn. Sew together inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Knit another wrist warmer the same way. |
