------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked twisted on the next row/round to avoid a hole. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern from the right side. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 3 stitches left on the row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together and knit 1. On the next row (wrong side), knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked when the rib on the neck measures 1 cm. Then work the other 5-5-5-6-6-6 buttonholes with approx. 8-8½-9-8-8-8½ cm between each one. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle. DOUBLE NECK: Cast on 103-107-111-117-121-127 stitches with DROPS Sky colour light sea green, using short circular needles size 3 and 4 mm held together. Remove the needle size 4 mm keeping stitches on the needle size 3 mm (this gives you an elastic cast-on edge). Purl 1 row. Work the next row as follows from the right side: 1 GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1, 1 garter stitch. When the piece measures 6 cm cast on 5 stitches at the end of the next 2 rows for the bands = 113-117-121-127-131-137 stitches. Continue the rib, with the outermost 6 stitches now worked in garter stitch for the bands. When the rib measures 12 cm, fold the neck double to the inside and work 1 more row of rib, working every 4th stitch together with its corresponding stitch on the cast-on edge. You now have a double neck. Knit 1 row from the right side and increase 4-5-11-15-21-25 stitches evenly spaced (do not increase over the bands) - read INCREASE TIP = 117-122-132-142-152-162 stitches. Insert 1 marker after the first band; the yoke is measured from this marker. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Work stocking stitch with 6 band stitches in garter stitch on each side – remember the BUTTONHOLES on the right band – read description above. When the piece measures 1-1-2-2-3-4 cm from the marker, work as follows from the right side: 6 band stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 (21-22-24-26-28-30 times in width) and 6 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern back and forth. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! On the last row in A.1 (marked with an arrow) increase 6-15-16-26-25-23 stitches evenly spaced = 333-357-388-428-457-485 stitches. When A.1 is finished, the piece measures approx. 20-20-21-21-22-23 cm from the marker. Continue with stocking stitch, colour light sea green and 6 band stitches in garter stitch on each side until the yoke measures 21-22-23-24-25-27 cm from the marker. Now divide for the body and sleeves as follows: Work 52-56-60-65-70-75 stitches as before (front piece), place the next 68-72-80-90-94-98 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-14 stitches (in side under sleeve), work 93-101-108-118-129-139 stitches (back piece), place the next 68-72-80-90-94-98 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-14 stitches (in side under sleeve), work the last 52-56-60-65-70-75 stitches (front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: = 213-229-248-268-293-317 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in each side, in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-14 stitches cast on under each sleeve. Continue stocking stitch back and forth with 6 band stitches in garter stitch on each side until the body measures 20-21-22-23-24-24 cm from the division and the next row is from the right side. Now divide for the split in each side: Leave the first 56-60-65-70-76-82 stitches on the needle, place the last 56-60-65-70-76-82 stitches on a thread for the right front piece, place the 101-109-118-128-141-153 in-between on a thread for the back piece. LEFT FRONT PIECE: = 56-60-65-70-76-82 stitches. Knit 1 row and increase 10-12-11-14-14-16 stitches evenly spaced = 66-72-76-84-90-98 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib as follows from the wrong side: 1 garter stitch, * purl 1, knit 1 *, work from *-* until there are 7 stitches left, purl 1 and 6 band stitches in garter stitch. Work this rib for 7 cm. Cast off. The piece measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Place the 56-60-65-70-76-82 stitches from the thread on the other side onto circular needle size 4 mm. Start from the right side, knit 1 row and increase 10-12-11-14-14-16 stitches evenly spaced = 66-72-76-84-90-98 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib as follows from the wrong side: 6 band stitches in garter stitch, * purl 1, knit 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1 and 1 garter stitch. Work this rib for 7 cm. Cast off. The piece measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder. BACK PIECE: Place the 101-109-118-128-141-153 stitches from the thread onto circular needle size 4 mm. Start from the right side, knit 1 row and increase 20-22-23-27-28-32 stitches evenly spaced = 121-131-141-155-169-185 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib as follows from the wrong side: 1 garter stitch, * purl 1, knit 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1 and 1 garter stitch. Work this rib for 7 cm. Cast off. The piece measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 68-72-80-90-94-98 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the new stitches cast on under the sleeve = 76-80-90-100-106-112 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and continue stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 3-2-2-2-2-4 cm, decrease 2 stitches mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2½-2½-2-1½-1½-1 cm a total of 12-13-16-21-21-24 times = 52-54-58-58-64-64 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 36-35-35-34-34-32 cm from the division. Knit 1 round and increase 12 stitches evenly spaced = 64-66-70-70-76-76 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 7 cm. Loosely cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The sleeve measures approx. 43-42-42-41-41-39 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew together the opening on each band, with small stitches. Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
