Knitted this beautiful cardigan in XS and ran out of the kid silk with another 4cm to go. Good thing I ordered an extra ball. You may want to correct the amount to 100grm. 😀

Bon tricot!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeve): Work until 1 stitch remains before marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On next round knit yarns over twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band. 1 BUTTONHOLE = purl 4th and 5th stitch from edge together and make 1 yarn over. On next row knit yarn over to make hole. Decrease for buttonholes when piece measures: XS: 10, 15, 21 and 27 cm S: 10, 16, 22 and 28 cm M: 10, 16, 22 and 29 cm L: 10, 16, 23 and 30 cm XL: 10, 17, 24 and 31 cm XXL: 10, 17, 24 and 32 cm ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work back piece and front pieces back and forth on circular needle separately. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/short circular needle up to sleeve cap, then work the rest of sleeve back and forth. Work parts together bottom up. Assemble jacket as explained in pattern. BACK PIECE: Cast on 87-95-103-111-121-131 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row from wrong side. Then work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, A.1 until 2 stitches remain, work first stitch in A.1 so that the rib is the same in each side, finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue rib like this for 10 cm – finish from wrong side. Switch to circular needle size 6 mm. Knit 1 row from right side while decreasing 24-26-29-31-34-36 stitches evenly = 63-69-74-80-87-95 stitches. On the next two rows cast on 1 new stitch at the end of row = 65-71-76-82-89-97 stitches. Then work in stocking stitch with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 31-32-33-34-35-36 cm, cast on 1 new stitch in each side – for assembly of sleeves = 67-73-78-84-91-99 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side. When piece measures 47-49-51-53-55-57 cm, work a neck edge as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, work 20-23-24-27-29-33 stitches in stocking stitch, 25-25-28-28-31-31 stitches in A.1, work in stocking stitch over the next 20-23-24-27-29-33, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue like this for 3 cm until piece measures approx. 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm. Now cast off the middle 11-11-14-14-17-17 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately = 28-31-32-35-37-41 stitches. Work left shoulder with 1 edge stitch and 6 stitches in A.1 towards the neck, stocking stitch over the next stitches and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch towards the side. Cast off when piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Work right shoulder the same way. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 49-55-59-63-67-71 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row from wrong side. Then work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until 2 stitches remain, work first stitch in A.1 so that the rib is the same in each side, finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue rib like this for 10 cm. Remember BUTTONHOLES on band - see explanation above. Switch to circular needle size 6 mm. Work next row as follows from right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, work 6 stitches in A.1 (= 7 stitches for band), 41-47-51-55-59-63 stitches in stocking stitch - at the same time decrease 13-16-17-18-19-19 stitches evenly, finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 36-39-42-45-48-52 stitches. Work next row as follows from wrong side: Cast on 1 new stitch, purl until 7 stitches remain on row, 6 stitches in A.1 and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 37-40-43-46-49-53 stitches. Then work in stocking stitch with 7 band stitches as before towards mid front and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch towards the side. When piece measures 27-28-29-30-31-32 cm, decrease for V-neck from right side as follows: Work the first 7 stitches in A.1, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over (= 1 stitch decreased). Work the rest of row as before. Decrease like this every 2½-2½-2-2-2-2 cm 10-10-12-12-13-13 times in total – at the same time when piece measures 31-32-33-34-35-36 cm, cast on 1 edge stitch in the side to use for assembly. After all decreases for V-neck, 28-31-32-35-37-41 stitches remain on shoulder. Continue until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Cast off. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 49-55-59-63-67-71 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Switch to circular needle size 6 mm. Work next row as follows from right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, 41-47-51-55-59-63 stitches in stocking stitch - at the same time decrease 13-16-17-18-19-19 stitches evenly, 6 stitches in A.1 finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 36-39-42-45-48-52 stitches. On next row work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, 6 stitches in A.1, stocking stitch over the next stitches and cast on 1 new stitch = 37-40-43-46-49-53 stitches. Then work in stocking stitch with 7 band stitches as before towards mid front and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch towards the side. When piece measures 27-28-29-30-31-32 cm, decrease for V-neck from right side as follows: Work until 9 stitches remain on row, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased) and work 6 stitches in A.1 as before and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Decrease like this every 2½-2½-2-2-2-2 cm 10-10-12-12-13-13 times in total – at the same time when piece measures 31-32-33-34-35-36 cm, cast on 1 new stitch towards the side to use for assembly. After all decreases for V-neck, 28-31-32-35-37-41 stitches remain on shoulder. Continue until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Cast off. SLEEVES: Cast on 38-40-42-44-44-46 stitches on double pointed needles size 5 mm with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Work rib according to A.1 for 6 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 6 mm, knit 1 round while decreasing 4 stitches evenly on round = 34-36-38-40-40-42 stitches. Insert a marker thread at beginning of round. Move marker thread upwards when working. Work in stocking stitch in the round. When piece measures 8-8-7-11-7-8 cm, increase 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this approx. on every 3-2½-2½-2-2-2 cm 12-13-13-14-15-15 times in total = 58-62-64-68-70-72 stitches. Continue to work until sleeve measures 43-43-42-41-40-38 cm. On next round cast off the middle 7 stitches mid under sleeve. Work piece back and forth on needle until finished measurements. Now cast off for sleeve cap as follows: Cast off 3 stitches at beginning of every row until piece measures approx. 47-47-46-45-44-42 cm. Cast off the remaining stitches. Work the other sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams inside cast-off edge. Sew sleeves in body inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on body and inside cast-off edge on sleeve cap. Sew side seams from armhole and down to rib inside 1 edge stitch (= 10 cm vent in each side). |
