Clue #7 - Spring is here!

DROPS-Along Spring Lane

This week we are going to crochet 14 small squares with bubbles in the middle. We have worked these lovely bubbles before, so this should be plain sailing! If you can remember how to do them you can go straight to the diagram at the bottom of the text, where you can also find a video if you need a little help whilst you are working.

Colors

Clue #7 is made up of 5 rounds worked according to diagram A.5 in the following colors:

CAST ON + ROUND 1: lilac
ROUND 2: heather
ROUND 3: lilac
ROUNDS 4-5: white

COLOR TIPS:
Are you using a different color combination than the one we are crocheting with? Make a small note of which color number replaces which before starting, by seeing the original materials here.

CROCHET INFO:
Information written between two * is to be repeated every time there is *-* in the text.
The red symbols in the diagrams are described in the text over the pictures.

Let’s get started!

CAST ON:
Work 4 chain stitches with lilac, form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.

ROUND 1:
Work 1 chain stitch, 6 single crochets around the chain-stitch ring.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet on the round, at the same time as you change to heather, do not cut the lilac strand. Read COLOR CHANGE TIP below.

COLOR CHANGE TIP:
To get the neatest transition when changing colors, work the last stitch on the round with the new color.

ROUND 2:
Work «BUBBLE AT THE START OF THE ROUND» as follows: 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first double crochet), work 3 double crochets in the first single crochet, slip the loop from the last double crochet off the hook, insert the hook in the front of the 3rd chain stitch, pick up the loop from the last double crochet and pull it through the loop on the hook.

Work * 3 chain stitches, work «BUBBLE» as follows: Work 4 double crochets in the next stitch, slip the loop from the last double crochet off the hook, insert the hook in the front of the top of the first double crochet worked, pick up the loop from the last double crochet and pull it through the loop on the hook *, repeat *-* a total of 5 times.

Work 3 chain stitches and finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to lilac, cut the heather strand (= 6 bubbles and 6 chain-spaces on the round).

ROUND 3:
Work 1 chain stitch.

Work 4 single crochets around each chain-space the whole round (= 24 single crochets).

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to white, cut the lilac strand.

ROUND 4:
Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first double crochet).

Work * 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, repeat *-* a total of 3 times.

Work 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round.

ROUND 5:
Continue with white, work 1 chain stitch.

Work * 1 single crochet in the 3rd chain stitch/double crochet from the previous round, 3 single crochets around the 5-chain-space, 2 chain stitches, 3 single crochets around the same 5-chain-space, 1 single crochet in the next stitch, 4 single crochets around the 2-chain-space *, repeat *-* a total of 4 times.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet at the beginning of the round. Cut and fasten the strands.

Finished!

Now we have finished one of the squares A.5, which should measure 8 x 8 cm / 3 1/8''.

Work a total of 14 of these squares in the same color combination:

Hej Jannie Hansen.
