Clue #6 - In Bloom

We are back to crocheting smaller clues! This time each square has a sweet Potentilla flower, surrounded by a lovely edge of easy stitches.

Colors

We are going to work 5 rounds in diagram A.6 with the following colors:

CAST ON + ROUND 1: heather
ROUND 2: lilac
ROUND 3: light lilac
ROUNDS 4-5: white

COLOR TIPS:
Are you using a different color combination than the one we are crocheting with? Make a small note of which color number replaces which before starting, by seeing the original materials here.

CROCHET INFO:
Information written between two * is to be repeated every time there is *-* in the text.
The red symbols in the diagrams are described in the text over the pictures.

Ready to begin?

CAST ON:
Work 4 chain stitches with heather, form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.

ROUND 1:
Work 1 chain stitch, 6 single crochets around the chain-stitch ring.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet on the round, at the same time as you change to lilac, cut the heather strand. Read COLOR CHANGE TIP below.

COLOR CHANGE TIP:
To get the neatest transition when changing color, work the last stitch on the round with the new color.

ROUND 2:
Work «3 DOUBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER AT THE START OF THE ROUND» as follows: 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in the 1st single crochet on the round, but wait with the last yarn over and pull through, work 1 double crochet in the same stitch and pull the last yarn over through all 3 loops on the hook.

Work * 3 chain stitches, work «3 DOUBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER» as follows: Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch, but wait with the last yarn over and pull through on both of these double crochets, work 1 double crochet in the same stitch and pull the last yarn over through all 4 loops on the hook *, repeat *-* 5 times in total, 3 chain stitches (= 6 double crochet groups and 6 chain-spaces).

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to light lilac, cut the lilac strand.

ROUND 3:
Work 1 chain stitch.

Work 4 single crochets around every chain-space all along the round (= 24 single crochets).

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to white, cut the light lilac strand.

ROUND 4:
Work 3 chain stitches (= First double crochet).

Work * 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, repeat *-* 3 times in total.

Work 5 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round.

ROUND 5:
Continue with white, work 1 chain stitch.

Work * 1 single crochet in the 3rd chain stitch/double crochet from the previous round, 3 single crochets around the 5-chain-space, 2 chain stitches, 3 single crochets around the same 5-chain-space, 1 single crochet in the next stitch, 4 single crochets around the 2-chain-space *, repeat *-* 4 times in total.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet at the beginning of the round. Cut and fasten the strands.

Finished!

We have now finished one of the squares in A.6, which should measure 8 x 8 cm / 3 1/8''.

Work 10 of these squares in the same color combination:

Es normal que queden bombeados?

DROPS Design 04.06.2017 - 16:28:

Hola Veronica. Los cuadrados deben quedar planos. Tienes que controlar la tensión del tejido.

Jacqueline Strand 23.04.2017 - 14:00:

I am substituting Lily's crochet cotton for the Drops yarn and it has been working fine until this block -6. Now it measures almist 4 inches instead of 3. It doesn't want to lay flat no matter what I do so I can't use a smaller hook or crochet tighter. Please help.

Stefani 20.04.2017 - 20:36:

My clue 6 square looks like a small hat, quite bunched up and not lying flat at all. Did I miss something?

DROPS Design 21.04.2017 - 09:14:

Dear Stefani, try to keep always the same tension and maybe try with a larger hook if they are smaller. Happy crocheting!

Laurie 16.04.2017 - 08:55:

Bon crochet!

Hej Marit, Færdig størrelse bliver ca 90 x 115 cm. God fornøjelse!

MercuryRain 08.04.2017 - 21:22:

How many clue 6 are we suppose to make?

DROPS Design 09.04.2017 - 21:45:

Hi Mercury! You have to make in total 10 squares in A.6. Happy knitting!

Ann-Britt 07.04.2017 - 14:27:

I love the 3D effect in these squares. Well done designers! I can't wait to see the finished result :)

Mia Juul 06.04.2017 - 22:28:

Lene 06.04.2017 - 11:38:

Min blomst popper op,skal den det ?

DROPS Design 06.04.2017 - 11:43:

Hej Lene, Jo men lidt vil blomsten poppe op :)

Mia Juul 06.04.2017 - 11:31:
