Our videos do not have sound. We are a worldwide company and our videos are watched by people speaking endless of different languages and many do not understand English. So since there is not a given language for us to use, we instead have written instructions to accompany the video, and then there is no sound to disturb while watching.

I already commented, but I’m still confused. Row 1 of the cuff (I’m assuming this is RS?) k1p1…end with k2. Row 2 (WS?) k1, k1p1 to end of row. Repeat for two cm. In the video, the button hole bind off is done on the k1, k1p1 side, which I thought was the WS. The pattern says bind off on RS. Help!!!!

Dear Tara, work the rib from RS with 1 st in garter st, then (K1, P1) until 2 sts remain, finish with K1 and 1 st in garter st, from WS work K over K and P over P (= 1 st in garter st, (P1, K1) until 2 sts remain, finish with P1, 1 st in garter st). Work the 2 buttonholes on a RS row as explained in the written pattern (the first one after the first 3 sts, the 2nd one when 5 sts remain on needle). Happy knitting!

Dear Tara, no, you cast off for the buttonhole when working from the RS (as stated in the pattern). That is, you cast off when you are working the first row from the RS after the piece measures 2cm. Happy knitting!

Dear Deb, you work 1 edge stitch at each side (at the beginning and end of the row), which is always knitted, while all the other stitches are ribbed. Happy knitting!

Hei Pernille. Er strikkefastheten overholdt? Når du har strikket 10 cm skal du i høyden ha strikket 17 pinner (10 x 10 cm = 13 m x 17 p glstrikk med 2 tråder). Du skal da fint greie å strikke opp 1 masker i hver av disse 17 radene for å få strikket opp 16 masker (1 rad det må hoppes over). mvh DROPS design

Dag Fiek,

De 7 cm is inderdaad voor maat 35/37. Er wordt naderhand nog een manchet op gemaakt aan de bovenkant, vandaar dat het wat kort kan lijken nu.

Hei Marit. Når du er ferdig med skaftet og starter med foten, skal det strikkes 7 cm (i den minste str og dette er oppå risten). Deretter settes maskene du har på tråden tilbake på pinnen, samtidig som det strikkes 12 masker opp på hver side av midtstykket (det partiet du nettopp har strikket) og det er herfra du nå skal måle. Tøffelen er strikket med 2 tråder Nepal og med vrangbord, slik at den blir ganske elastisk. God Fornøyelse!

I have never been so confused reading a knitting pattern before. I've been working at it for a few hours now and I just can't do it anymore. I love Drops yarn but I need audio in the videos and for the videos to be much slower. None of this slowing down and speeding up stuff. I need to see all the steps to figure out what is confusing me. I thought the flap I was knitting was the heel but maybe it's actually supposed to be the top of the foot. Argggh.

Dear Mary, when you start working over the stitches for upper foot, you first have to increase 1 stitch on each side, then you decrease - video is not showing the increases on each side, only the decreases. Remember you always can contact your DROPS store even per mail. Happy knitting!

How to knit a sock with a wedge heel – short overview

In this DROPS video, we show you how to knit a sock with a wedge heel - arguably the most common method for working a heel. To begin, the stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows: 1) The heel is first worked in height, back and forth across the heel-stitches. 2) Next, the bottom of the heel is worked to the required width and length by working short rows and decreasing stitches. 3) Once this step is completed, continue knitting in the round across all stitches, knitting up stitches on both sides of the heel (along the length). 4) The width and shape of the foot is worked by decreasing stitches on both sides, forming a small wedge – that is why this type of heel is known as a wedge heel.

How to work a wedge heel

In this DROPS video we show how to work a wedge heel on a sock. We have already worked the beginning and start the video by cutting the thread and divides the stitches to the heel and the top of the foot. In this DROPS video we show how to start a sock with a flounce, like the “Dainty Duo” socks in DROPS 229-19. We cast on with 2 strands, but continue with 1 strand. Then we knit 4 rounds and on the next round we knit all stitches together 2 by 2. Then we work a rib (knit 1 twisted/purl 1). In this DROPS video we show how we work after chart A.1 (flounces) and A.2 (lace pattern) to the “Kissing Kate” socks in DROPS 229-20. We show the beginning and end after chart A.1, and in chart A.2 we show round 3, 4, 9 and 10. We use less stitches than it says in the pattern. How to work the slippers in DROPS 203-37

In this DROPS video we show how to work the “Carrot Squash” slippers in DROPS 203-37. We have already cast on stitches for size 35/37 = US 4.5/6.5 and start the video by showing round 1 (only Knit). Then the rib, K1, P1. After the rib put 31 stitches on a stitch holder, work the other stitches back and forth. Then work these stitches, the new pickup stitches along the sides and the stitches from the stitch holder, and work around again. Decrease stitches and work around to finish measurement, bind off and fold the slipper and sew under foot in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch. These slippers are worked in DROPS Snow, the same yarn we use in the video. You must read the pattern to be able to follow this video properly.
