In this DROPS video we show how to work a crocheted coaster We have already worked a circle using half double crochets as follows: Work 4 chain stitches in color 1 and put them together into a ring with 1 slip stitch into the 1st slip stitch. ROUND 1: Work 2 chain stitches (= 1 half double crochet), 9 half double crochets around the chain stitch ring, finish with 1 slip stitch into the 2nd chain stitch at the beginning of round = 10 half double crochets. ROUND 2: Work 2 chain stitches (= 1 half double crochet), 1 half double crochet in the same stitch, 2 half double crochets in each stitch on round, finish with 1 slip stitch into the 2nd chain stitch at the beginning of round = 20 half double crochets. ROUND 3: Work 2 chain stitches (= * 1 half double crochet), 1 half double crochet into the same stitch, 1 half double crochet into the next stitch *, repeat this the entire round and finish with 1 slip stitch into the 2nd chain stitch at the beginning of round = 30 half double crochets. You can also work other stitches instead of half double crochets, for example single rochets or double crochets. We start the video from the 4th round. ROUND 4: Work 5 chain stitches, pull the last chain stitch to make it long. Drop the loop, insert the needle into the next stitch, collect a new color (color 2) and pull it through the stitch. Work 5 chain stitches, pull the last chain stitch to make it long. Drop the loop and insert the needle into the first long chain stitch (colour 1), tighten the loop, skip the chain stitch round in color 2 and work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, 5 chain stitches, * pull the last chain stitch to make it long. Drop the loop and insert the needle into the other long chain stitch (color 2), tighten the loop, skip the chain stitch round in colour 1 and work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, 5 chain stitches, pull the last chain stitch to make it long. Drop the loop and insert the needle into the other long chain stitch (color 1), tighten the loop, skip the chain stitch round in color 2 and work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, 5 chain stitches*, repeat *-* until 1 stitch remains again. Drop the loop and insert the needle into the other long chain stitch (color 1), tighten the loop, skip the chain stitch round in color 2 and work 1 slip stitch in the last stitch, cut the thread (color 1). Insert the needle into the other long chain stitch (color 2), tighten the loop, skip the chain stitch round in color 1 and insert needle back into the slip stitch at the beginning of round (same color), fold the chain stitch loops backward, make a yarn over around the needle and pull the thread through the stitch on the needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the stitch. Insert the needle from the back and collect the thread, fasten the thread on the wrong side. Fasten all thread ends. With loop: Work from **: 1 slip stitch into last stitch, 20 chain stitches, 1 slip stitch in the same stitch, cut the thread (color 1). Insert the needle into the long chain stitch (color 2), tighten the loop, skip the chain stitch loop in color 1 and insert the needle back into the slip stitch at the beginning of round (same color), fold the chain stitch loop backward, make a yarn over around the needle and pull the thread through the stitch on the needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the stitch. Insert the needle from the back and collect the thread, fasten the thread on the wrong side. Fasten all thread ends. We use the garn DROPS Snow in the video, the small coasters are crocheted in DROPS Muskat (hook size 4,0 = US 6).
