How to crochet a single crochet (sc) US / double crochet (dc) UK in the round

In this DROPS video we show how crochet a single crochet (sc in US term) also known as a double crochet (dc in UK term) in the round.

When you are crocheting sc's/dc's in the round you begin each round with 1 ch that replaces the first sc/dc on this next round.
To mark the beginning it is a good idea to use a scrap yarn to mark the 1st stitch on the round.
Finish each round with 1 sl st in the chain from beg of round. Make sure to not work the sc that the ch was made in! Keep moving the marking thread for each round.

Bonjour Mme Gerard, au time code 00:35, nous faisons la maille en l'air du début du tour qui va remplacer la 1ère maille serrée, à 00:45 nous crochetons 1 maille serrée dans la maille serrée suivante puis tout le tour; à la fin du tour: à 1:54, nous montrons la maille en l'air dans laquelle nous allons crocheter la maille coulée qui va fermer le tour. Lorsque vous comptez vos mailles, la maille en l'air comptera pour la 1ère maille serrée. Au début, il peut être sage de bien compter ses mailles si on n'est pas sûre. Bon crochet!

How to crochet round and round without finishing each round

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet round and round without finishing each round. We have already crocheted a chain stitches row and start the video how to form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Then work 2 chain stitches (replacing the first half-treble crochet), 1 half-treble crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches, 2 half-treble crochets around the 2 chain stitches at the beginning of the round. How to work treble crochet and get a straight line running down the beginning/ending of the rounds

In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round. It you work round and round from the right side; the line at the beginning of the round is then slightly diagonal (see the sample patch on the right at the beginning of the video). We also work the piece in stripes and to get a neat transition when changing colours, we work the slip stitch at the end of the round in the new colour. Each round of treble crochets begins with 3 chain stitches which do not replace the first treble crochet. The rounds finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. How to increase stitches in a cable

In this DROPS video we show to increase stitches in the cable stitches, like the raglan increases is done in the “White Heron” jumper in DROPS 254-7. In the video we work 7 stitches (2 garter stitches + knit 1 + purl 2 + knit 2), before A.1 (cable), then knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), A.2 and finish the row with 7 stitches (knit 2 + purl 2 + knit 1 + 2 garter stitches). Work A.1 like this: Place 4 stitches on cable needle behind the piece, knit 2, work 3 stitches in each of the 4 stitches on cable needle (work front, back, front loop of each stitch). 8 increased stitches. Work A.2 like this: Place 2 stitches on cable needle in front of piece, work 3 stitches in each of the next 4 stitches (work front, back, front loop of each stitch), knit 2 from cable needle. 8 increased stitches.
