Was verstehe ich da falsch ? Danke.
15.01.2022 - 15:23DROPS Design answered:

If I look up the yarn info, the page recommend a gauge of 24sx32r (stockinette assumingly) on a 3mm needle. So I'm a bit confused :)

Jesse wrote:
So just to check: The gauge given in the pattern is for 2,5 mm needles (since the swatch is in stockinette) and then I should start the knitting with half a mm bigger. Is that correct?
18.07.2021 - 08:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jesse, yes - the gauge is usually given in needle size used for main knitting, as for edging we use smaller ones (because we need edges a bit tighter). This cap has edge in garter st, which is loose a bit, so we use needles 2,5. After that we knit stockinette with needles 3 mm. Happy knitting!

Hi drops, In what size needle should I knit the swatch so it matches up with the pattern? In 2.5 or 3? Thanks
17.07.2021 - 22:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jesse, use the needle that gives you the gauge for the stockinett stitch and half a mm smaller for the garter stitch. Happy Knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, bottom up. HAT: Cast on (60) 72-84-88-96 (104-108) stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm = US 1,5 and Baby Merino. Work garter stitch for 4 cm = 1½". Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm = US 2,5 and continue with stockinette stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Work stockinette stitch until the piece measures (10) 11-12-13-14 (14-15) cm = (4") 4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛"-5½" (5½"-6"). Now insert (6) 8-7-8-8 (8-9) markers in the piece with (10) 9-12-11-12 (13-12) stitches between each one. On the next round decrease 1 stitch by knitting together the first 2 stitches after each marker (= (6) 8-7-8-8 (8-9) stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of (6) 6-6-6-6 (7-7) times = (24) 24-42-40-48 (48-45) stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = (12) 12-21-20-24 (24-23) stitches. SIZES 1/3 - 6/9 -12/18 MONTHS (2 - 3/4) YEARS: Knit 1 round. Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 11-10-12 (12-12) stitches. ALL SIZES: Pull a double strand through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. (14) 15-16-17-18 (19-20) cm = (5½") 6"-6¼"-6¾"-7" (7½"-8"). CROCHETED EDGE: Crochet an edge around the bottom edge using hook size 2.5 mm = US C/2 as follows: 1 single crochet in the first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in the first chain stitch, skip approx. 1 cm = ⅜", 1 single crochet in the next stitch *, work from *-* to end of round and finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet. ------------------------------------------------------- |
