Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
GARTER ST (worked in the round):
* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds.

GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

See diagrams A.1 and A.2.

When switching ball with Polaris, split the old strand in two on the last 15 cm / 6'' – cut off one part, do the same on the new strand. Place the first and last 15 cm / 6'' on top of each other so that the yarn is the normal thickness and continue to work – this is done to make the strand switch invisible in the yarn.

Cast on 25-25-30 sts on double pointed needles size 9 mm / US 13 with Polaris. P 1 round. Then K 1 round while inc 15-15-18 sts evenly = 40-40-48 sts. Then work pattern according to diagram A.1 (= 5-5-6 cables on round). REMEMBER KNITTING GAUGE AND READ TIP FOR CHANGING YARN.
When piece measures approx. 19 cm / 7½'' – adjust so that 3 to 5 rounds have been worked after 1 round with cables, work the 6 sts in each cable K tog 2 by 2 = 25-25-30 sts remain on needle. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above, in the round over all sts and dec 1-1-2 sts evenly on 1st round = 24-24-28 sts.

Slip the first 9-9-10 sts on round on 1 stitch holder (work sts before slipping them on stitch holder), K over the next 6-6-8 sts (= mid front on slipper) and slip the remaining 9-9-10 sts on round on 1 stitch holder. Work ridges in GARTER ST – see explanation above – back and forth over the 6-6-8 sts until middle part measures 8-9½-11 cm / 3"-3 3/4"-4½''. Now slip the sts from stitch holders back on needle and pick in addition up 8-10-11 new sts on each side of middle part (pick up in outer loops of edge sts) = 40-44-50 sts on needle. Insert 1 marker, NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE!
Insert 1 marker mid front of toe and 1 marker mid back on heel. Continue in the round in garter st. When piece measures 2 cm / 3/4'' from marker (adjust so that next round is with K), K 2 tog on each side of each marker (= 4 sts dec). Repeat dec every other round (i.e. every round with K) until piece measures 6-6-7 cm / 2½"-2½"-2 3/4" from marker and bind off. Sew seam mid under foot in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam.
Work another slipper but reversed (i.e. Work pattern according to diagram A.2 instead of A.1).

All measurements in charts are in cm.

= K
= P
= slip 3 sts on cable needle behind piece, K 3, K 3 from cable needle
= slip 3 sts on cable needle in front of piece, K 3, K 3 from cable needle
