Hi, are the buttons just for decoration or to hold down the flap on the large page? Thanks Tania
09.05.2018 - 02:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Tania, buttons are sewn and hold on the flap with to the crochet edge (right now missing) worked along the flap: 1 dc(UK)/sc(US) in the first 3 sts, 2 ch, skip 2 sts, 1 dc/sc in each of the next 29 sts, 2 ch, skip the next 2 sts, 1 dc/sc in each of the last 3 sts. Correction will be added asap. Happy knitting!

Gauge: 18 sts x 30 rows with 1 strand Bomull-Lin + 1 strand Cotton Viscose in seed st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Seed Stitch (on an uneven number of sts): Row 1: P 1, * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *. Row 2: K 1, * P 1, K 1 *, repeat from * - *. Repeat Rows 1 2. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Large purse: The purse is knit in one piece, beginning with flap. Stitches are cast on for side pieces. Cast on 39 sts with 1 strand Bomull-Lin and 1 strand Cotton Viscose. Knit 2 rows garter st. Row 3 (wrong side): establish pattern as follows: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), P 1 (st to be knit in stockinette st throughout), 35 sts seed st (see instructions above), P 1 (st to be knit in stockinette st throughout), K 1 (edge st to be knit in garter st throughout). Knit in pattern as established until the piece measures 11 cm [4.25"], then continue with seed st over all sts. When the piece measures 34 cm [13⅜"] on a wrong side row cast on 6 new sts at each side = 51 sts. Establish pattern on the next row as follows (right side row): K 1 (edge st in garter st), K 1 (st to be knit in stockinette st), 2 sts seed st, K 1 (st to be knit in stockinette st), 41 sts seed st, K 1 (st to be knit in stockinette st), 2 sts seed st, K 1 (st to be knit in stockinette st), K 1 (edge st in garter st). When the piece measures 53 cm [20⅞"] knit 2 rows garter st over the center 39 sts. On the next row bind off all sts . Assembly: Crochet the purse together with sc and 1 strand of each of the two yarns. Fold purse at point where 6 new sts were cast on. These 6 sts are the sides, approx. 3 cm [1.25"] wide. Crochet together using edge sts. Start with the 3 cm [1.25"] at bottom and up along side. Repeat on other side of purse. Crochet 2 button loops on flap as follows: Start outermost on the one side: 3 sc, 2 ch, skip 2 sc, 29 sc, 2 ch, skip 2 sc, 3 sc. Sew on buttons. Strap (make 2): With 2 strands Bomull-Lin + 1 strand Cotton Viscose make a chain approx. 100 to 120 cm [39-⅜" - 47.25"] long. Sew to each side of purse. Small purse: The purse is knit in one piece, beginning at flap edge. Cast on 11 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand Bomull-Lin and 1 strand Cotton Viscose. Knit 2 rows garter st, then continue with seed st over all sts. Inc 1 st (yo inside edge sts) at each side every other row 7 times = 25 sts. Continue with seed st over all sts until the piece measures 22 cm [8⅝"], knit 2 rows garter st, bind off. Assembly: Fold purse so that the flap is 5 cm [2"] long. Crochet sides of purse together with sc and 1 strand of each of the two yarns. Make a button loop centered on flap as follows: start at the edge of one side, 3 sc, ch 3, fasten with 1 sc 1 cm [3/8"] farther on row, 2 sc, fasten with 1 sl st. Sew on button. |
