Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
Knitting gauge:
Cotton Chenille: 14 sts x 26 rows on needle size 4 mm / US 6 in pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''.
Vienna: 14 sts x 16 rows on needle size 6 mm / US 10 in pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''

Bobble: Knit 3 sts in same st alternately into front and back of st. Knit 2 rows stockinette sts over these 3 sts. On next row lift the first and second st over the third = 1 st left.

Pattern: See diagram. 1 diagram = 1 repeat.
Bol = body piece

Knitting tip: If knitting in Vienna, make the following changes to dec and inc:
On every other row = alternate between every and every other row
Alternate between every 2nd and 3rd row= alternate between every and every other
On every 4th row = alternate between every other and every 3rd row
Alternate between every 4th and 5th row = alternate between every other and every 3rd row.

Decreasing tip, apply to raglan:
Dec as follows before the marking thread: From RS: K2 tog, from WS: P1, P1 tog with next st into back of st.
Dec as follows after the marking thread: From RS: slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso. From WS: P 2 tog.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Back and front piece:
The jumper is knitted back and forth on circular needle.
Cast on 146 (146) sts (incl 1 edge each side) on needle size 5 mm / US 8, change to needle size 4 mm / US 6 and work chart M.1 (beg by the arrow and 1st row = WS) and then 2 repeats of M.2 with 1 edge st each side.
Now finish the piece in stockinette sts, at the same time insert a marking thread after 73 sts in size M/L.
M/L only: After (12) rows in stockinette sts inc 1 st on both sides of MT and inside 1 edge st each side and repeat the inc a further 2 times on every (12) rows = (158) sts.
REMEMBER THE GAUGE!
When piece measures 23 (24) cm work next row as follows: bind off 3 sts for armhole (incl 1 edge st for seam), 68 (74) sts = front piece, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 68 (74) sts = back piece, bind off 3 sts (incl 1 edge st for seam).
Put the piece aside and work the sleeves.

Sleeves: Knitted back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 32 (34) sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 5 mm / US 8, change to needle size 4 mm / US 6 and work M.1 (1st row = WS) and then 2 repeats of M.2 with 1 edge st each side – make sure to have a bobble mid upper sleeve. After M.2 finish sleeve in stockinette sts. At the same time when sleeve measures 5 (5) cm inc 1 st each side a total of 20 (20) times on every 4th and 5th row alternately = 72 (74) sts.
When sleeve measures 43 (43) cm bind off 3 sts each side = 66 (68) sts left. Knit the other sleeve.

Yoke: Put sleeves in on the same circular needle as back and front pieces where you bind off for armholes and finish the jumper back and forth on needle from transition between right sleeve and back piece, at the same time cast on 1 new st on sleeve and 1 new st on back piece for seam = 270 (286) sts. Insert a marker in all transitions between sleeves and body pieces = 4 markers. Now dec 1 st for raglan on both sides of each marker– see Decreasing tips – as follows:
Sleeves: on every other row a total of 30 (31) times,
Back and front pieces: on every other row 7 (13) times and then alternate between every other and every 3rd row a total of 18 (14) times.
At the same time, when piece measures 38 (40) cm bind off the middle 4 (6) sts on front piece for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 1 (1) time, 1 st 3 (3) times and then on every 4th row: 1 st 2 (2) times.
After all dec for raglan and neck are complete bind off remaining 26 (28) sts, piece measures approx 46 (48) cm.

Assembly: Sew side seams and openings under arms. Sew sleeve seams.

Crochet borders: Crochet a row of dc round the neck. Now crochet a border round the neck and round sleeve edges as follows: 1 sc, *3 ch, 1 dc in first ch, skip 2 sts, 1 sc*, repeat from *-*.
Crochet a border round the bottom edge as follows - beg in a st with bobble: (4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc) in same st, *skip 4 sts, 3 sc, skip 4 sts, (4 dc, ch 1, 4 dc) in same st*, repeat from *-*.

Bon tricot!
