------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1 (= 2 stitches increased) and A.2 (= 1 stitch increased). INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 88 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 22) = 4. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 4th stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 88-96-100-104-108-112 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and DROPS Air. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3½-3½-4-4 cm. On the next round, increase 22-24-25-26-27-28 stitches by making 1 yarn over after each purled section = 110-120-125-130-135-140 stitches. On the next round purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Continue the new rib (knit 2, purl 3) until the neck measures 4-4-4½-4½-5-5 cm. The beginning of the round is on the back right shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 44-48-50-52-54-56 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 0-0-5-0-5-10 stitches evenly on the round – read INCREASE TIP = 110-120-130-130-140-150 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. When the yoke measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm from the marker, increase stitches by working PATTERN – read description above, as follows: * 2 stocking stitches, work A.1, 1 stocking stitch *, work from * - * to end of round = 154-168-182-182-196-210 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the yoke measures 8-8-8-10-10-10 cm from the marker. Work the next round as follows: * 3 stocking stitches, A.1, 2 stocking stitches *, work from * - * to end of round = 198-216-234-234-252-270 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the yoke measures 12-13-13-15-15-16 cm from the marker. FIND YOUR SIZE: Continue as described for your size below. SIZES S-M-L: * 4 stocking stitches, A.2, 3 stocking stitches *, work from * - * to end of round = 220-240-260 stitches. Go to ALL SIZES. SIZES XL-XXL-XXXL: * 4 stocking stitches, A.1, 3 stocking stitches *, work from * - * to end of round = 286-308-330 stitches. Go to ALL SIZES. ALL SIZES: Continue with stocking stitch until the yoke measures 16-18-18-20-20-22 cm from the marker. Work the next round as follows: * 4-4-4-5-5-5 stocking stitches, A.2, 4-4-4-4-4-4 stocking stitches *, work from * - * to end of round = 242-264-286-312-336-360 stitches. When the yoke measures 18-20-20-22-22-24 cm from the marker, increase 2-0-0-0-0-4 stitches evenly spaced = 244-264-286-312-336-364 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the yoke measures 21-23-23-24-26-28 cm from the marker. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Place the first 46-48-55-60-62-66 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (under the sleeve), knit 76-84-88-96-106-116 (= front piece), place the next 46-48-55-60-62-66 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (under the sleeve), knit the last 76-84-88-96-106-116 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 168-184-196-212-236-256 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 cast-on stitches under 1 sleeve. Work to the marker; the round now starts here. Continue with stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 42-44-45-46-48-50 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 48-52-60-60-68-76 stitches evenly on round 1 = 216-236-256-272-304-332 stitches. When the rib measures 7-7-7-8-8-8 cm, cast off a little loosely. The jumper measures approx. 49-51-52-54-56-58 cm from the marker mid-front and 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 46-48-55-60-62-66 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 54-56-65-70-74-78 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 4-4-4-4-3-2 cm, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 7-6½-3½-3-2½-2½ cm a total of 5-5-9-10-11-12 times = 44-46-47-50-52-54 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 37-34-36-34-33-31 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 12-14-13-14-16-14 stitches evenly on the first round = 56-60-60-64-68-68 stitches. When the rib measures 7-7-7-8-8-8 cm, cast off a little loosely. The sleeve measures approx. 44-41-43-42-41-39 cm. |
